The 166th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No.1 F&AM was held in the Masonic Temple, Yokohama, Japan on the 3rd day of February 1971.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at the order of the Wor. Master in the East at 19:30 hours with W.Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Steinheimer in the West and Bro. LaSalle in the South.
The Minutes of our Stated Meeting for the Month of January were read together with our Special Meetings held during the month of January and approved.
The Treasurer's Report for the Month of January was read and approved subject to the usual audit.
The next order of business was the reports of the various committees.
M.W.Bros. Peck and Nielsen reported that the Job's Daughters received their charter on the 17th and held the installation of officers on the 30th of January.
Petitions For Ballot. The W.Master directed that the fee of Mr. White be returned, No Ballot.
The petitions of Mr. Teslo and Mr. Jackson could not be acted on as the reports of the committees were not complete.
Balloting on the Petition of Mr. DeYoung was held and he was elected to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge.
The Bills for the Month of January were read, and Bro. Watters moved and Bro. LaSalle seconded that the Bills be paid. CARRIED.
The Commission from the M W Grand Lodge of Queensland was presented to W.Bro. Williams by M.W. Bro. Peck appointing him as their representive near the M W Grand Lodge of Japan. They also conferred on him the Title of Past Honorary S.G. Warden of their Grand Lodge. Bro. Williams responded with appropriate remarks.
M.W. Bro. Peck gave us some educational highlights on Masonic history.
Bro. Vernan B. Lucas was elected to Dual Membership in our Lodge and was affiliated by W. Bro. Vanvig.
On motion by M W Bro Peck Bro. Evans was appointed to handle the sale of medallions for the Lodge. These medallions to be sold at the price of .50 each.
Lodge was lowered to the Fellow Craft Degree and Bro. Sultan was examined and found proficent by Bro. Shipman. Lodge raised to the 3rd degree at 21:35 hours.
There being no further business and Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at the order of the Wor. Master in the East at 21:50 hours, With W.Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Steinheimer in the West and Bro. LaSalle in the South.
