The 167th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No.1, F&AM was held in the Masonic Temple, Yokohama, Japan on the 3rd day of March, 1971.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at the order of the Wor. Master in the East at 19:30 hours, with Wor. Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Steinheimer in the West and Bro. LaSalle in the South, for conducting such business that might come before it.
The Minutes of the 166th Stated Meeting held on Febuary 2nd, 1971 and the Minutes of the subsequent Special Meetings held during the Month of February were read and approved.
The Treasurer's report for the Month of February was read and motion was made and seconded that the report be accepted. CARRIED.
Balloting on the petitions for Degrees was not carried out due to the Wor. Master having received an objection. The Candidates were Rejected. They were Mr. Tesnow and Mr. Jackson. The Secretary was directed to return their Fees.
The Bills for the Month of Feb. were read and motion was made by Bro. Watters and Seconded by Bro. Riffle that they be paid. CARRIED.
Committee Reports:
Publication: Bro. Riffle gave an account of the progress.
Job's Daughters: M.W.Bro. Nielsen gave a interesting account of the progress and their status for the time since they were started last year.
Old Business:
Discussion was held on the dispensing with the typist; W.Bro. Nishiyama to give a report at the next stated Meeting.
M.W.Bro. Nielsen gave a account of the Status of our Bonds, and of a increase in the Tax rate from 15% to 20% charged by the Government of Japan. He recommended that the Lodge invest 500.000 with the G.L. of Japan for investment in their consolated fund in the Name of Far East Lodge. Seconded by M.W.Bro. Peck. After some discussion the Motion was carried.
New Business:
The Wor. Master announced that our annual G. Masters Dinner would be held on May the 29th, 1971 and he appointed W.Bro. Nishiyama and Bro. Kennedy to make the necessary arrangements.
The Wor. Master said Goodbye to Bro. LaSalle who will be leaving next week for the U.S. Bro. LaSalle responded with appropriate remarks and said that he was sad to be leaving.
M.W.Bro. acted as Marshal and M.W.Bro. Peck installed Bro. Anderson as Tyler of the Lodge.
M.W.Bro. Peck gave a interesting talk on Masonic History.
