Minutes 5 May 1971

The 169th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No 1 F&AM was held in the Masonic Temple, Yokohama, Japan on the 5th Day of May 1971.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at the order of the Wor. Master in the East at 1900 Hours with Bro. Steinheimer in the East, Wor. Bro. Williams in the West, and Bro. Otani in the South, for conducting such business that might come before it.

The Minutes of the 168th Stated and Special Meetings held during the Month of April were read and approved.

The Treasurer's report was given by Wor. Bro Grimes for the Month of April. Read and approved.

Balloting on the petition for Dual Membership of Bro. Crosthwaithe was held. ELECTED.

Petitions for the Three Degrees in Masonery conferred by this Lodge was read from: Mr. Donald L. Black

Committee Reports:

House: Negative.

Sick: Bro. Bennette reported that Bro. Riffle was in the Hospital in Yokosuka following an accident in Tokyo. Bro. Oliver reported that Bro. Nilsson was not doing too well and asked that a few of the bro's stop by to cheer Bro. Nilsson up.

Other reports were negative.

M.W. Bro. Robertson moved to send flowers to Bros. Riffle & Nilsson. Seconded by Bro. Watters. CARRIED.

The Bills for the month of April were read and motion was made by Bro. Watters and seconded by Bro. Somerville that they be paid. CARRIED.

Bro. Otani was elected as Junior Warden for the remainder of this Masonic Year. By unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on the annual Grand Master's Chinese Dinner and it was moved by M.W. Bro. Robertson and Seconded by Bro. Watters that the Lodge pay the bill for the party of the Grand Lodge Officers. CARRIED.

Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at the order of the Wor. Master in the East at 21:15 hours with Bro. Steinheimer in the East, Wor. Bro. Williams in the West, and Bro. Otani in the South.
