The 416th Special Meeting of Far East Lodge No 1 F&AM was held at the Masonic Temple, No 3, Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 23rd day of June 1971. A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due form at 1900 hours with Worshipful Master Brother Vanvig in the East, Brother Watters in the West, and Brother Otani in the South for the purpose of hearing the Proficiency of Brother SIMPSON.
Brother Arlin Davis Simpson was examined by Brother Watters and was found proficient in the Master Mason Degree.
M.W. Brother Chester O. Nielsen presented the Lambskin Apron and Bible to Brother William H. Fox. These items were received from Bro. Fox's Lodge at Sodus, New York and it was asked that these items be presented to Bro. Fox. Brother Fox responded with the appropriate remarks.
M.W. Brother N.O.A. Peck then arose and gave a short talk on the accomplishments of M.W. Brother Horiuchi and how he has contributed so much to Masonry in Japan and to Our Lodge.
M.W. Brother Peck also commented on a history book being written by Tokyo Lodge No. 2 and reminded every one that the 25th anniversary of Far East Lodge No. 1 is upcoming in a few years and recommended that work commence now on the necessary preparations to have a successful event.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Worshipful Master announced that the Lodge would proceed to close. Peace and Harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at the will and pleasure of the Worshipful Master at 20:30 hours with Worshipful Brother Vanvig in the East, Brother Watters in the West and Brother Otani in the South.
