The 174th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff Yamato-cho Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 6th day of October, 1971. A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with Worshipfu1 Master Wor. Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Riffle in the West, and Bro. DeYoung in the Söth.
The Wor. Master Recognized the Distinguished Brethren present as Listed in the Tilers register for this date.
The first order of business was the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting No. 173 and all subsequent Special Meetings.
Approved as corrected.
The next order of business was the reading of the Treasurer's Report and it was approved as read subject to the usual audit.
The Next order of business was the report of the several committees.
HOUSE: Wor. Bro. Vanvig reported that he had given Bro. Roper Far East Lodge's share of the cost of the new windows, and that there would be another meeting next month.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP: The secretary reported that we had one new Life member, Pro. Gerald William Hudson, No. 131.
ENTERTAINMENT: Neg.
DEMOLAY: Bro. Otani reported that the DeMolay had held a farewell Party for Worshipful Brother Chester O. Nielson, on 2 Sept. at the Yokaro Chinese Reasturant, Bro. Riffle, Wor. Bro. Vanvig and others were in attendance and a good time was had by all.
PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Riffle reports that the F.T.'s for May thru July is ready and will be available shortly, and the next issue will be for Nov. and Dec. Also advises that the cost had been substantially reduced. Most Wor. Bro. Robertson suggested that appeal be included in each issue. Bro. Riffle requested that he be provided the total cost for F.T.'s for the past twelve months.
COACHING: Bro. Sommerville reports no one being coached.
SICK & VISITATION: Bro. Bennent gave Neg. report.
LAPSATION: Wor. Bro. Williams gave Neg. report.

JOB'S DAUGHTERS: Bro. Riffle reports he has attended two meetings and the girls put on a good reception with baton twirling etc. and that they were looking for qualified girls between the ages of 12 add 20.
The next order of business was the reading of the bills.
The Secretary read the bills for the month of September. Motion by Most Wor. Bro. Robertson and seconded by Bro. Bennent that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Secretary gave a second reading of letter from G.L. concerning special meeting on 15, 16 Oct, 1971.
NEW BUSINESS: The Wor. Master as required by the Constitution and By-Laws read articles 100, 100a, and 100b.
Most Wor. Bro. Robertson read aloud from a Copy of The Masonic Show Case of La. which had been sent to him from Bro. Harvey M. Gilmore who is now 72 years old.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Worshipful Master announced that the Lodge would proceed to close, Peace and Harmony prevailing, this Lode was closed in due and ancient form at the will and pleasure of the Worshipful Master at 21:10 hours with Worshipful Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Riffle in the West and Bro. DeYoung in the South.
