Minutes 3 November 1971

The 175th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff Yamato-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 3rd day of November, 1971. A lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with Worshipful Master Wor. Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Otani in the West and Bro. Webb in the South.

The Worshipful Master recongized the distinguished Brethren and visitors present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

The first order of business was the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting No 174 and all subsequent Special meetings. Approved as corrected.

The next order of business was the reading of the Treasurer's Report (See MW Bro. Nielson's written report on Life Membership attached), also The Worshipful Master appointed Bro. Honorio (Chico) Alvarez as Treasurer Pro-Tem, due to MW Bro. Nielson's leaving and Bro Alvarez accepted.

The next order of business was the report of the several committees.

ENTERTAINMENT: Bro. DeYoung reported that the 10 Nov Fellowship dinner is all set to go. Poster made "Farewell to Chet Nielson and wife". Bro. Riffle reported on ticket sales.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Riffle gave a neg report, Wor. Bro. Vanvig advised that Lodge Meetings are again advertised in the Weekly Bulletin

DeMOLAY: Bro. Otani reports nest DeMolay Meeting 6 Nov. FEL

ALL OTHER COMM'S: NEGATIVE

Balloting on the following Petitioner was held and he was elected to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge.

The Secretary read the bills for the month of Oct, and they were approved as read. (Pending availability of Funds).

UNFINISHED BUS:

The Wor. Master read Articles 100, 100a, and 100bb as required by the Constitution and By-Laws.

Bro. Tayama reports a quotation to install foor rugs and strip with aluminum referred to House Comm.

The Wor. Master reported that the Elections for new officers will be held at our next regular meeting on 1 Dec. 1971, and the installation will be on Sat. the 4th of Dec, 1971.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Wor. Master asked for discussion as to whether our installation should be open or closed. After discussion it was decided to have an open installation and the Wor. Master appointed the following Brethren as the committee, WBro. Vanvig, Bro. Riffle, Bro. DeYoung and Bro. Bandy.

Bro. Riffle announced that the Brethren of Far East Lodge #1 were invited to the instal1ation of officers of Kuyushu Lodge at 18:30 on 16 Dec. Also Yokosuka Lodge invites the Brethren of FEL to their next meeting on 8 Nov. Also next meeting would be a fellowship dinner on Wednesday at 6:30 in the Sea Side Club. Following Wednesday 1st.

Bro. Riffle also read correspondence from Grand Lodge.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Wor. Master announced that the Lodge would procceed to close, Peace and Harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at the will and pleasure of the Worshipful Master at 21:15 hours with Worshipful Bro. Vanvig in the East, Bro. Otani in the West and Bro. Webb in the South.
