The 177th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple, No 3 Bluff, Yamato-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 5th day of January, 1972. A lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:50 hours with Worshipful Master (acting) Bro. Riffle in the East, Brother Otani in the West and Brother Garrity in the South.
The Worshipful Master announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of January the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last stated Meeting and all subsequent meetings, and reconized the dignitaires and visitors as registered in the Tiler's record of this date.
The minutes were approved as corrected.
Next order of business was the Treasurer's Report, Bro. Alvarez gave the report and it was accepted as read subject to the usual audit.
The next order of business was the report of the several committees:
House Committee: Wor. Bro. Nishiyama reported that a motion picture co. had requested to use the front entrance of the Temple to film a movie, which he had discussed with the House Committee and they had given their approval.
Publications Committee: Bro. Riffle stated that the Nov.-Dec. issue of the F T's would soon be in the Mail to the Brethren.
Coaching Committee: Wor. Bro. Nishiyama reported that he was working with Bros. Taku Nishiyama and Saito, and they should soon be ready.
Other Committees: Negative.
The below named petitioner was elected by secret ballot to receive the degrees of Masonry in Far East Lodge No. 1.

The Secretary read the bills for the Month of December and they were approved as read.
Unfinished Business:
MW Bro. Robertson and MW Bro. Peck dicussed our Dollar and yen account, and MW Bro. Peck suggsted that a Finance and Lapsation be appointed and instructed so as they might improve our financial and membership conditions. MW Bro. Peck also announced there would be two G.L. Meetings this month, on the 7 and 29.
New Business:
W Bro. Alvarez presented a proposed budget.
The Wor. Master announced that next week would be a first degree for Mr. Henderson, he also instructed the Secretary to write a letter to Brother Stevens expressing our condolences on the death of a member of his family.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, The Wor. Master announced that the Lodge would proceed to close, Peace and Harmony prevailing, the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at the will and pleasure of the Wor. Master at 21:50 hours with Bro. Riffle (acting Wor. Master) in the East, Bro. Otani in the West and Bro. Garrity in the South.
