The 181st Stated meeting of Far East Lodge No 1 F&AM was held at the Masonic Temple No. 3 Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan, on the 3rd Day of May 1972. A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours, with Bro. Riffle (act Wor. M.) in the East, Wor. Bro. Nishiyama (act. SW) in the West and Bro. Oliver (act. JW) in the South.
The Wor. Master recognized the distinguished Brrthren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.
The first order of business was the reading of the minutes. The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.
The next order of business was the Treasurer's Report and it was approved as read subjected to the usual audit.
MW Bro. Peck recommended using number of actually active Life members when reporting.
Next order of business. Report of The Several Committees.

ENTERTAINMENT: Bro. DeYoung reported tickets available of G.M.'s Banquet, date 27 May, Place Dai Han Ten Chinese Restuarant, Time 6:30. Price 1,500 Yen.

The next order of business was the reading of the bills for the Month of April and they were approved as presented.
OLD BUSINESS: Bro. Henderson volunteered to procure name tags for the new Life Members.
MW Bro. Robertson gave brief remarks on tradition of Chinese Dinner and Banquut for the Grand Master.
The Wor. Master appointed Bro. DeYoung to handle sale and accountability of tickets for Banquet.
NEW BUSINESS: The Secretary read letter from Grand Secretary concerning scheduled visit of Grand Lecturer on 22 August, Bro. Riffle requested that the Grand Lecturer be contacted as Far East usually goes dark uring July and August, and possibly arrange to receive him on the Stated Meeting night in August.
MW Bro. Peck suggested that a letter be sent to the Grand Master to request that his scheduled visit on 22 Nov. be changed to 18 Oct, to correspond to our Past Masters' Night. The WM so directed the Secretary.
Bro. Riffle announced that in addition to the foregoing sceduled events that election of New Officers would be held at the Stated Meeting of 6 Dec. and the installation of Officers would be on 16 Dec.
He also appointed Bro. DeYoung as Chairman of the Charity Commltte; with Wor. Bro. Olstead, Bro. Alvarez, Bro. Tayama serving as members.
W Bro. Robertson requested the gavel and upon receiving it called the Brethren to order and suspended business in this Lodge of Master Masons and declared an Emergent session of the Grand Lodge open for the purpose of Installing WBro Olmstead as Grand Junior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Japan with MW Bro Robertson (acting Grand Master) in the East, MW Bro. Peck (acting Grand Senior Warden) in the West and WBro Nishiyama (acting Grand Junior Wardern) in the South, Wor. Bro. Williams acted as Marshal. After installing Bro. Olmstead, MW Bro Robertson declared the Emergent Session closed and labors resumed in a Lodge of Master Masons, and returned the gavel to Bro. Riffle (acting WM).
MW Bro. Peck spoke briefly about his visit to the Communication of the Grand Lodge of the Philipines, the fine Birthday Card he received from them (presented same to Secretary for consideration) also 150 Lodges were represented and 800 Brethren were in attendance. Further that he had visited Teikoku Lodge that he was impressed by the very good, attendance there and excellent First Degree work.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Wor. Master announced that the Lodge would procceed to close. Peace and Harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:30 hours, with (acting Wor. Master) Bro. Riffle in the East, Bro. Otani (acting SW) in the West and Bro. Oliver (acting JW) in the South.
