Minutes 2 August 1972

The 184th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple No. 3 Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan, on the 2nd day of August, 1972. A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours, with Bro. Riffle (acting WM) in the East, MW Bro. Robertson (acting SW) in the West and Bro. Chun (acting JW) in the South.

The Wor. Master recognized the distinguished Brethren present along with the first time visitors present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

The first order of business was the reading of the minutes. The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

The next order of business was the Treasurer's report, and due to the temporary absence of Bro. Alvarez, W Bro. Williams read a balance sheet showing receipts and bank totals as of this date.

The next order of business was the reports of the several committees.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Riffle reported April May June and July issue of Friendly Tips should be out by the end of the week.

LAPSATION: W Bro. Williams reported Bro. Bowser restored.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: W Bro. Williams reported new life member No. 143 Bro. Stanley J. Sawicki.

JOB'S DAUGHTERS: Neg.

MASONIC EDUCATION: Neg.

NEW PETITIONS READ: None

Balloting was held on the following named Bro. to become a dual member of Far East Lodge No. 1, and he was elected.

Brother DOERTY, Walter L.

Bro. Doery was obligated as a dual member with Bro. Riffle (acting WM) in the East, MW Bro. Robertson (acting SW) in the West and Bro. Chun (acting JW) in the South.

The next order of business was the reading of the bills for the month of July and Bro. Chun moved, Brother Poll seconded that the bills be paid. Carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

MW Bro. Robertson requested the Secretary to read a list of the Brethren who had not progressed or who had not given their proficiency in the three degrees, after which he encouraged all the Brethren to assist in helping these Brethren to proceed.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Secretary read a letter from Bro. Barry M. Love requesting apron which he said he had never received, and Bro. Williams said that if no one objected it would be done. There was no objection, however MW Bro. Robertson suggested that the Minutes be searched to determine that no apron had been sent, and if so then it should be sent.

The Secretary read letters from Grand Master concerning Lodge Data, and Bro. Riffle said he would take it up with the Temple Committee.

A Letter requesting courtsey work be done upon Bro. Arvin Morris Fix, for George Washington Lodge No. 251, under the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Washington.

Bro. Riffle gave the Brethren a brief but very interesting report on his travels and visitations while on home leave in the United States.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Wor. Master announced that the Lodge would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:20 hours, with Bro. Riffle (acting WM) in the East, MW Bro. Robertson (acting SW) in the West and. Bro. Chun (acting JW) in the South.
