Minutes 6 September 1972

The 184th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple No. 3 Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 6th day of September, 1972. A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours, with Bro. Riffle (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Otani in the West and Bro. Chun (acting JW) in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren Present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

The first order of business was the reading of the Minutes and they were approved as read.

The next order of business was the Treasurer's report and it was accepted as read.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

HOUSE COMMITTEE: Bro. Riffle read a letter from Grand Lodge requesting certain information on Lodge building and that he would bring it before the House Committee. Bro. Bro. Peck discussed tax problems that may someday confront Far East Lodge.

CHARITY: Bro. Riffle reported notifying orphanage to come and pick up clothing donation next Friday.

ENTERTAINMENT: Neg.

DEMOLAY: Neg.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Riffle reported it would be only a matter of time until the issue for Aug., Sept., and Oct. of the F T's would be ready.

COACHING: Bro. Henderson reported Bro. Philippe and Bro. Saito were working, also Bro. Padilla would be ready for the Third Degree Proficiency next Wednesday.

AUDIT: Neg.

SICK & VISITATION: MW Bro. Robertson reported Bro. Dern-Palmer in Yokosuka Hospital with hernia operation.

JOB'S DAUGHTERS: Bro. Alvarez reported that the girls had their installation on the 26th of Aug. and that the ceremonies were very impressive. Also that he had been elected as Assoc. Bethel Guardian and requested any brother that knew any girl eligible contact him. Brother Riffle added that the girls were doing a fine job.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: Bro. Williams reported New Life member #144, Bro. Rafael Gonzalez.

BALLOTING: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bro. Henderson reported Life Member name tags still not finished.

NEW BUSINESS: MW Bro. Robertson reported that Bro. Anderson had requested that upon his death he be given Masonic burial rites by Far East Lodge #1.

Bro. Riffle announced the Grand Lecturer and Grand Inspector would visit on the 3rd Wednesday in September, Past Masters night would be on 18 Oct, elections for Officers would be on 6th Dec., and installation of officers on 16 Dec. Next Wednesday would be a First Degree for Mr. Fix and we would also listen to the proficiency of Bro. Padilla in the Third Degee.

MW Bro. Peck spoke briefly on the correct way to accept the Minutes and Treasurer's report and reminded all that it was necessary to read the art. and by-laws at stated meetings in Oct., Nov. and Dec. pertaining to elections. He also encouraged everyone to attend Grand Lodge of Instruction on 30 September and other items of interest.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the Wor. Master announced that the Lodge would proceed to close.

Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:30 hours, with Bro. Riffle (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Otani (acting SW) in the West and. Bro. Chun (acting JW) in the South.
