Minutes 4 April 1973

The 192nd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 4th day of April, 1973.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:00 hours, with Worshipful Master Bro. Riffle in the East, Bro. Alvarez, Senior Warden, in the West, and Bro. LaSalle (Acting Junior Warden) in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of April, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings:

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.

Next was the Treasurer's Report and it was presented by Bro. Hodges and approved as read subject to the usual audit.

The next order of business was the Report of the several committees.

HOUSE: W Bro. Riffle reported a special meeting called for 11 April with Bro. Swanson and others.

CHARITY: NEG.

DeMOLAY: VW Bro. Nishiyama gave NEG report.

PUBLICATIONS: W Bro. Riffle reported next issue being prepared. (FT's)

COACHING: Bro. Alvarez reported Bro. Holley ready next month and he would check on Bro. Gibson.

AUDITING: Bro. Chun reported NEG.

SICK & VISITATION: NEG.

JOB'S DAUGHTERS: Bro. Alvarez reported NEG.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: W Bro. Williams reported no new Life Members.

MASONIC EDUCATION: NEG.

LAPSATION: NEG.

BALLOTING: NONE.

The following petitions for the Three Degrees of Masonry were read:

The Secretary read the bills for the month of March, and they were approved as presented.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The WM recommended to the Brethren that the Grand Master's Banquet be held on the second or third Saturday of May, and VW Bro. Nishiyama would check and see which would be more convenient for the GM.

NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Alvarez gave a brief report on the Grand Lodge Communication held 16-17 March, simplification of the Japanese ritual and other items of interest. He also recommended using the Stars and Stripes to print our Friendly Tips as it appears to be much cheaper. MW Bro. Peck concurred.

W Bro. Riffle requested Chairman Hodges to check on it.

He then read aloud the list of newly elected Grand Lodge Officers.

General discussion was had on holding the Grand Master's Banquet in conjunction with Job's Daughters ceremonies on 12 May as suggested by Bro. Alvarez. To be discussed again at our next Stated Meeting.

VW Bro. Nishiyama reported to the Brethren that he had attended the wedding ceremonies for Bro. Otani and that Bro. Otani would be shortly returning to attend Lodge again.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the WM announced that the Lodge would proceed to close.

Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:15 hours. With Worshipful Brother Riffle in the East, Bro. Alvarez, Senior Warden, in the West, and Bro. LaSalle (Acting Junior Warden) in the South.
