The 197th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 5th day of December, 1973.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours, with Bro. Alvarez (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Hodges (acting SW) in the West and Bro. LaSalle (acting JW) in the South.
The WM announced that we would now receive W Bro. Floyd B. Jimerson, Grand Lodge Inspector for Far East Lodge No. 1, with honors and after which W Bro. Jimerson was seated in the East. The WM then recognized the Distinguished Brethren and visitors present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date. He then informed the brethren that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of December, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.
The next order of business was the Treasurer's Report and it was given by Bro. Campbell and approved as presented.
The Secretary read the bills for the month of November and MW Bro. Peck moved and Bro. Hodges seconded that the bills be paid as presented. Motion carried.
The WM then requested Bro. HUNT, Rowland Philip, to place himself West of the Altar for the purpose of being obligated as a dual member of Far East Lodge No. 1. Bro. Alvarez obligated Bro. Hunt, with Bro. Hodges in the West and. Bro. LaSalle in the South.
Balloting upon the petitions to receive the degrees of Masonry in this Lodge was held on the following named petitioners, and they were elected,

Mr. McCUMSEY, Russell Guard
After Balloting the Brethren were called briefly free from restraint for the purpose of changing officers. MW Bro. Robertson assumed the East, Bro. Alvarez in the West and Bro. LaSalle in the South, for the purpose of electing new Lodge Officers. Before proceeding, MW Bro. Robertson read Art 2, Section 1 of the Lodge By-Laws and Arts 100, 100a and 100b of the Grand Lodge Constitutdon, also Edict No. 8. The elections then proceeded and the following named Brethren were elected to the offices indicated for the ensuing Masonic year:

The Secretary read the following named Brethren to be dropped for Non-Progression effective Dec. 31, 1973.
The Secretary then read the names of Master Masons who had not given their proficiency in the Third Degree as follows:

Also, names of Brethren to be suspended for Non-Payment of dues as of Dec 31, 1973, as follows:
Also, list of names of Brethren who had made contributions or donations to the Lodge during 1973, and recommended that they be included in the next issue of the Friendly Tips.
NEW BUSINESS:
Motion by Bro. Hodges, seconded by Bro. Keene that Yen 30,000 be donated to the Japan Times Wheelchair Fund to purchase one wheel chair, donation to be made thru the Grand Lodge. Carried.
Discussion was then invited by the WM concerning date and place of Installation of officers. Motion by Bro. Hodges seconded by Bro. LaSalle that it be held on 11 Jan, 1974, at the Officers Club at 6:00 PM. Carried.
Brol Alvarez announced that on Dec. 12 we would have a Third Degree, and on the 19th of Dec. there would be a First Degree. Bro. Havens volunteered to have a sign printed in Japanese for the Lodge, and Bro. Polling, Lodge No. 706, Lima, Ohio, presented fraternal greetings and congratulations to the newly elected Lodge Officers. W Bro. Jimerson congratulated the Master Elect and his officers and remarked that the friendship and brotherly love of Far East Lodge No. 1 was outstanding and looked forward to the coming year of high achievements.
There being no further business to come before thi sLodge of Master Masons, the WM announced that we would proceed to close. Peace and Harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 22:10 hours, with Bro. Alvarez (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Hodges (acting SW) in the West and Bro. LaSalle (acting JW) in the South.
