Minutes 5 June 1974

The 203rd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM, was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 5th day of June 1974.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with W Bro. Alvarez, WM, in the East, Bro. Hodges, SW, in the West and Bro. Lasalle, JW, in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

W Bro. Alvarez then asked the Brethren to be upstanding and offered up a prayer for Bro. Martin Henry Andersen who passed away on 28th day of May. Bro. Andersen had been our Tiler for the past several years and was loved by all who knew him.

The Secretary then read the minutes of our last stated meeting and all special meetings, and they were approved as corrected.

The WM then read the Treasurer's Report, and it was approved as read subject to the usual audit.

The Secretary presented the bills and it was moved by MW Bro. Robertson and seconded By Bro. Hodges to pay the bills when funds available. MOTION CARRIED

The next order of business was the report of the several committees:

HOUSE: Bro. Hodges reported no further progress on acquiring Lodge property. Also that the roof needs immediate repairing and some of the electrical wiring needs replacement, with the roof repair being top priority. The WM asked for volunteers to help.

ENTERTAINMENT: Bro. LaSalle reported that the annual Grand Master's Chinese Dinner was held on May 18th. 70 persons were in attendance and a good time was had by all.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Hodges thanked the Brethren who had assisted him in getting out the latest issue of the Friendly Tips.

COACHING: Bro. Dunning reported that Mr. Richard J. Alaback was prepared to receive the 1st Degree next Wednesday.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: W Bro. Williams reported Bro. Guy Y. Poll had jsut become our Life Member No. 147.

BALLOTING: Balloting by secret ballot was had on the following named petitioners to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge.

MR REYNA, Edward Medrano
Mr. DEH-LEE, William (NMN)

MB. REYNA as elected. Mr. DEH-LEE was rejected.

The WM announced that a sum of Yen 19,504 had been donated to the victims of the recent flood disaster.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: The WM announced that next week would be a First Degree for Mr. REYNA, and on the 19th of June would be a Second Degree, also a Lodge of Sorrow would be held on 24 June. MW Bro. Robertson recommended that all possible assistance be given to Mrs. Andersen also that dedication ceremonies would be held at KTMI on Saturday, June 8. W Bro. Alvarez remarked that he had been giving assistance to Mrs. Andersen and would continue to help when required.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the WM announced that the Lodge would proceed to close.

Peace and harmony prevailing this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:10 hours, with W Bro. Alvarez, WM, in the East, Bro. Hodges, SW, in the West and Bro. Lasalle, JW, in the South.
