Minutes 2 April 1975

The 213th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 2nd day of April l975.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with W Bro. Hodges in the East, Bro. Mason, SW, in the West and Bro. Watson, JS, (acting JW) in the South.

The WM then recognized the distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of April, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by Bro. Alaback, and Bro. Reyna moved and Bro. Mason seconded that it be approved as read subject to the usual audit. Motion carried

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and Bro. Alaback moved and Bro. Watson seconded that the be paid as presented. Motion carried

Next order of business was the Report of the several committees:

HOUSE: W Bro. Hodges reported that the contractor had examined the roof and would repair soon. He read and explained the House Committee's financial statement for the year and stated it would be posted. Also, that he had been selected to remain Chairman for the coming year and briefly discussed the present situation on the Temple property.

CHARITY: NEG.

ENTERTAINMENT: W Bro. Hodges announced that the Grand Master's Dinner would be held on 17 May and appointed Bro. Alaback and Bro. Watson to assist.

DeMOLAY: RW Bro. Nishiyama announced that the conclave would be held at Camp Tama on 4, 5, 6, of April.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Watson reported that next issue of FT's should be ready by next Wednesday.

EXAMINATION & RECEPTION: Bro. Diel reported NEG.

COACHING: Bro. Alaback reported working with Bro. McGeorge, but could not contact Bro. Ohkawa or Bro. Vaughn. Bro. DeLuna reported working with Bro. Livernois and that he had been called back to duty. W Bro. Hodges announced that Bro. McGeorge was scheduled for a 2nd Degree on 16 April.

AUDITING: NEG.

SICK & VISITATION: W Bro. Hodges reported Chairman of the Committee Bro. Lambert had departed for further Military assignment.

LAPSATION: W Bro. Williams reported NEG.

SIGHT ASSISTANCE: Bro. Alaback reported still working but nothing new to add at this time.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: W Bro. Williams was pleased to report that Bros. Alaback and Mason had become Life Members No. 157 and 158 respectively.

BALLOTING: Secret ballot was held on the below named petitioner and he was elected to become a dual member of Far East Lodge No. 1.

PETITIONS READ: NONE

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The WM announced that PM's night would be held on either the 22nd or 29th of October, the election of officers would be on 3 December and the installation would be on the 13th of December.

NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Alaback moved and MW Bro. Robertson seconded that Far East Lodge No. 1 donate $100.00 to the Knights Templar Eye Fund, for which we would receive a certificate as Patrons. Motion carried.

W Bro. Hodges read letter from MW Bro. Quick concerning Grand Lodge Work Shop, and, will discuss further at next meeting. The WM then requested Bro. Alaback to place himself West of the Altar and presented him with his Life Membership card No. 157 with congratulations. W Bro. Hodges requested MW Bro. Robertson to assume the East. MW Bro. Robertson complied and announced that he would now proceed to install the following officers into their respective stations with W Bro. Hodges acting as installing Marshal:

RW Bro.Shigeru Nishiyama, DGM, Marshal

MW Bro. Robertson than congratulated both newly installed officers but especially RW Bro. Nishiyama, who, in addition to his Grand Lodge responsiblities, had found time to serve his Mother Lodge as Marshal.

Bro. Alaback was pleased to report to the Brethren that his son's operation was a success and that he was coming along just fine.

W Bro. Hodges then announced that Bro. Mason would soon be leaving Japan for another assignment in England and commended him for his many achievements and wished him the best of luck. Bro. Mason confirmed his leaving and thanked everyone for having the pleasure of serving as SW and the many pleasant memories he would be taking with him.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, W Bro. Hodges requested MW Bro. Robertson to close his Lodge.

Peace and harmony prevailing this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 22:20 hours with MW Bro. Robertson (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Mason, SW, in the West, and Bro. DeLuna, JW, Yokosuka No. 20, (acting JW) in the South.
