Minutes 7 May 1975

The 214th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 7th day of May, 1975.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with W Bro. Hodges in the East, Bro. Alaback, Treasurer, (acting SW) in the West and Bro. Watson, JS, (acting JW) in the South.

The WM then recognized the distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of May, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by Bro. Alaback, and W Bro. Williams moved and Bro. Watson seconded that the Treasurer's Report be accepted as read subject to the usual audit. Motion carried

The Secretary then presented the bills for the period and Bro. Poll moved and W Bro. Williams seconded that the bills be paid as presented. Motion carried

Next was the report of the several committees:

HOUSE: Pro. Poll reported that the property taxes had been increased by Yen 40,000 and that the roof had been partially repaired again.

ENTERTAINMENT: Bro. Alaback reported Grand Master's Dinner would be held at same restuarant as last year, Bro. Reyna had had tickets printed. And discussion was had on door prizes, Bro. Alaback moved and W Bro. Williams seconded to expend $50.00 for prizes. Motion carried

DeMOLAY: NEG.

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Watson reported next issue covering period up to end of March was in the hands of the printers, also had begin work on next issue.

EXAMINATION & RECEPTION: NEG.

COACHING: Bro. Poll reported Bro. McGeorge working on proficiency.

AUDITING: NEG.

SICK & VISITATION: Bro. Diel volunteered to chair committee.

LAPSATION: W Bro. Williams reported deliquent notices would shortly be sent to those Brethren in arrears.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: W Bro. Williams offered his report that the WM might present the newest Life Member his card at the Altar.

CHARITY: W Bro. Hodges reported.that he will get frame for Knights Templar Certificate an: hang in ante room. He then read a communication from Bro. Voss concerning Sight Assistance program. MW Bro. Robertson remarked that the Grand Lodge paid all bills promptly when presented. Discussion on Grand Lodge emergency fund followed and decision on contributing was deferred. Further correspondence from G.L.

BALLOTING: NONE.

W Bro. Hodges reread letter concerning date of GL Exec. Meeting and Work Shop. It was decided that the 3rd or 4th Saturday was satifactory.

PETITIONS READ: Petitions to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge was read for the following:

The WM then requested Bro. Ralph Wayne Vaughn to place himself West of the Altar for the purpose of presenting him with Life Membership Card No. 159. Bro. Vaughn responded with approproate remarks.

Bro. Poll moved, Bro. Watson seconded that a party for the Masons, George and Sylvia, be held jointly by Far East No. 1 and Eastern Star members. Motion carried

W Bro. Hodges appointed the following to the committee for the arrangements for the party. Bros Poll, Watson and McGeorge, with cost to be born by the persons attending.

W Bro. Hodges reported that the Grand Master will be visiting on the PM's night, October 15, 1975. Also Senior Grand Lecturer Ronald E. Napier will visit officially on 9 July, 1975 and we will probably have a visit from our inspector VW Bro. Jackson next week along with a lodge of instruction on that date also. Also Bro. McGeorge will probably give 3rd Degree proficiency on the 21st and that a Third Degree courtesy would be had for Yokosuka No. 20 on the 28th.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, the WM announced that we would proceed to close.
