Minutes 5 November 1975

The 220th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge was held at the Masonic Temple, No.3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 5th day of November 1975.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:40 hours with W Bro. Hodges, WM in the East, MW Bro. Robertson, GS (acting SW) in the West, and VW Bro. Jackson, GLI (acting JW) in the South.

The WM then recognized the distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.

He then announced that we would now receive W Bro. Roper, reigning Master of Lodge Star in the East No. 640, on the rolls of the MW Grand Lodge of Scotland along with other lodge officers and Brehtren of No. 640. After receiving W Bro. Roper, he was seated in the East.

The WM then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of November the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent special meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by W Bro. Hodges and it was approved as presented subjected to the usual audit.

The Secretary then presented the bills for the period and MW Bro. Robertson moved and Bro. Watson seconded that the bills be paid as presented. Motion carried

The next order of business was the report of the several committees:

HOUSE: W Bro. Hodges reported NEG.

ENTERTAINMENT: W Bro. Hodges gave a brief financial report on PM night and congratulated Bro. Matt Zalewski and all the others who assisted him in preparing a wonderful meal.

DeMOLAY: NEG

PUBLICATIONS: Bro. Watson reported latest issue of FTs were all mailed, and that the next issue, with a up-to-date list of names and addresses was at the printers and should be ready by the 14th. He also encouraged all to submit anything of interest for publication.

SICK & VISITATION: W Bro. Hodges reported that Bro. Zalewski had been suffering with a bad cold and MW Bro. Robertson reported Bro. Oppenheim had been hospitalized with a heart condition.

COACHING: NEG

EXAMINATION & RECEPTION: NEG

LAPSATION: W Bro. Williams reported 3 or 4 more Brethren had responded to dues and suspension notices.

CHARITY: NEG

SIGHT ASSISTANCE: NEG

LIFE MEMBERSHIP: NEG

NEW PETITIONS: NONE

BALLOTING: NONE

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The WM requested MW Bro. Robertson to read aloud that portion of the Grand Lodge Constitution and By-Laws together with the Lodge By-Laws concerning election of Lodge officers. MW Bro. Robertson complied. W Bro. Hodges then announced that due to lack of accommodations during the month of December that our Installation Banquet would be held on 10 Jan, 1976 at the Officers Club, however he was checking one other location, that our election of new officers would be at the Stated Meeting of 3 December and the 25 year pins with letter will be mailed to 52 Brethren of 25 or more years service. He also announced that he and W Bro. Williams will prepare the Charity and community activites reports. He then raised the Lodge and read a letter from the Grand Master announcing that the GL Carnival would be posponed until next April or May. The Secretary then read a letter from Bro. Roar J. Bowman requesting to be restored to good standing. The Secretary then read the letter from Bro. Alvin D. Wilder concerning a request for Demit. MW Bro. Robertson moved and W Bro. Williams seconded that Far East Lodge No. 1 remit the per capita tax to the Grand Lodge and carry Bro. Wilder as a member in good standing for life. Motion carried

NEW BUSINESS: The WM announced that next week would be a Second Degree for Bro. Harding, that the elections would be on December 3rd and the installation on the 10th of January 1976. Also will finalize details for Installation at next meeting. W Bro. Roper, reigning Master of Star in the East No. 640, on behalf of the officers and members of his lodge, extended fraternal greetings and expessed his pleasure at being able to make an official visitation this evening and announced that their lodge installation of officers would be held Friday 12th December at the YCAC, and that their DGM would be present to install the officers and invited all. W Bro. Hodges thanked the Master and Brethren of Lodge Star in the East for the visit this evening, and announced that there being no further business that we would proceed to close.
