Minutes 2 August 1978

The 253 STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 2 day of August 1978.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1930 hours with WM Jose DeLuna, WM in the East, Bro. Redman, SW in the West, and Bro. Norman, JW in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren (and first time visitors) as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of August, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by Bro. Zalewski. It was moved by Bro. McGowan and seconded by Bro. Sketo that the Treasurer's Report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and Bro. Redman moved and Bro. Barrs seconded that the bills he paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: Negative Report.

PAY OF MEMBERS: Negative Report.

REFRESHMENT/ENTERTAINMENT: WM DeLuna said Bro. Walker had called and given him a report, as he could not attend Lodge, everything was going very well for the picnic, which was set for the 10th of September.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WM reported that Friendly Tips were ready for typing.

COACHING: Bro. Redman said Bro. Zarth should be ready for the 2nd Degree of Masonry next week.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Negative Report.

AUDIT: Negative Report.

TEMPLE TRUST FUND: Negative Report.

HOUSE: A meeting was held on 18 July and Lodge 640 will not help pay for air conditioner. The fees for parking was increased from 8,000 yen to 10,000 yen for small cars and 10,000 yen to 12,000 yen for larger cars. The WM then read a letter from the lawyers of Far East lodge No. 1 concerning our vacating of the property. We were told not to be concerned at this time and continue to use our Lodge.

BALLOTING: Negative Report.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: Negative Report.

CORRESPONDENCE: The monthly bulletin of the Grand Lodge of Japan was read.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Negative Report.

NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Barrs said he would be helping Bro. Redman with the Board.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 2045 hours with WM DeLuna, WM, in the East, Bro. Redman, SW, in the West, and Bro. Norman, JW, in the South.
