Minutes 4 October 1978

The STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 4th day of October 1978.

A Lodge of MMs was open in due and ancient form at 1935 hours with WB DeLuna, WM, in the East, Bro. Redman in the West, and Bro. Norman in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren (and first time visitors) as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of October, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes, MWB Robertson asked that the amount of the bills be entered in the minutes. It was agreed and the minutes were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's report given by Bro. Zalewski. It was moved by Bro. Redman, seconded by Bro. Norman that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary read the bills for the month of Oct. It was moved by Bro. Redman and seconded by Bro. Norman that we pay our bills. MOTION CARRIED.

Next the report of several committees.

CHARITY: Negative report.

PAY OF MEMBERS: Negative report.

REFRESHMENT/ENTERTAINMENT: Negative report.

FRIENDLY TIPS: Bro. Medley reported that the last F/T were mailed. The WM said that the friendly tips were due this month so get anything for the F/T into the WM as soon as possible.

COACHING: Bro. Lamm will not be ready for a while. Bro. Forbes will not be ready next week. Bro. Thomsen ready next week.

SICK & VISITATION: Negative report.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Negative report.

AUDIT: It was reported that the books would go to the Grand Lodge.

TEMPLE TRUST FUND: The Treasurer reported we had ¥2,280,221 in the Temple Trust Fund.

HOUSE: The WM gave a report on the Court hearing about the Lodge and gave us a brief on where we stand.

BALLOTING: Negative

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: The petitions on Bro. Edward Lea Edward and Bro. Byron Dean Brown were read for dual membership.

CORRESPONDENCE: A letter from OASIS SHRINE CLUB was read concerning the Shrine Fall Ceremonial and our ad in their program. The WM moved that we take the same full page ad that we had last year, seconded by Bro. Redman. MOTION CARRIED.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: MWB Robertson made a motion that we give ¥25,000 to the Grand Lodge for the Emergency Relief Fund. Motion seconded by Bro. Barrs. MOTION CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS: The WM read articles from the Constitution that must be read each year in Oct., Nov. and Dec.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was close in due and ancient form at 2100 hours with Worshipful Brother DeLuna, WM, in the East, Brother Barre, (Acting) SW, in the West and Brother Norman, JW, in the South.

Bro. Norman made farewell comments followed by a response from the WM.
