Minutes 3 January 1979

The 258th STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 3rd day of January, 1979.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 1930 hours with Bro. Jack C. Barrs WM in the East, Bro. Ralph E. Smith (Acting SW) in the West, and Bro. Jose Ferrer (Acting JW) in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren and first time visitors as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of January, 1979, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by Bro. Matthew Zalewski. It was moved by W Bro. Williams and seconded by Bro. Medley that the Treasurer's Report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and Bro. Medley moved and Bro. Thomsen seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

COMMITTEES: The WM suspended all reports for this meeting.

REPORTS:

BALLOTING: Balloting was held on the petition of the following named and he was elected to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge.

Mr. JUDY Lonn Allen.

PETITIONS: NONE.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Secretary read a letter from from Bro. John P. Redman, Jr. SW, resigning his position as SW elect. Bro. Medley moved and Bro. Thomsen seconded to request dispensation to elect a Senior Warden and other officers if needed. MOTION CARRIED.

The WM announced the following appointments:

He then announced his prospective calendar of events for the coming year.

He also explained the Temple Fund and The Save the Temple Fund and spoke on the importance of continuing the Friendly Tips as the only means of communication with our Brethren. He also announced that the Trestle Board would be found and brought up to date and our next meeting would be a First Degree.

WB Williams moved and Bro. Ferrer seconded that refreshment be served following the meetings with Snacks before opening. MOTION CARRIED.

MWB Bro. Robertson then congratulated Bro. Barrs WM elect on the excellent manner in which he had conducted the business meeting. Bro. Barrs responded with appropriate remarks and also congratulated the Officers and Brethren pro-tem for this evening.

WM then announced that there being nothing further to come before this Lodge of Master Masons we would proceed to close. Peace and Harmony prevailing, the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:30 hours with Bro. Barrs (WM elect) in the East, Bro. Smith (Acting SW) in the West, and Bro. Ferrer (Acting JW) in the South.
