The 262nd STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 1st day of May 1979.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM, in the East, Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
The WM recognized those Brethren who had distinguished themselves in Masonry as listed in the Tiler's register of this date, and announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the Month of May the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as corrected.
Next was the Treasurer's report presented by Bro. Matthew Zalewski, and WB Thomas H. Hodges moved and Bro. Sketo seconded that the report be accepted as presented subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then presented the bills for the period, and Bro. Sketo moved and WB Williams seconded the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: NONE.
PAY OF MEMBERS: NONE.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges reported that the draft was about finished and publication would probably start next week. The WM commended WB Hodges for his assistance and hard work.
COACHING: Bro. Sketo reported Bro. Rohrer will be ready next week.
SICK AND VISITATION: MWB Robertson reported that Bro. Ohashi's wife was improving. Bro. Rohrer reported that an American youth had passed away and several Brethren of Far East Lodge No. 1 were assisting in the matter.
MASONIC EDUCATION: NONE.
AUDIT: NONE.
TEMPLE TRUST FUND: Deferred.
HOUSE: The WM reported a meeting will be held next week sometime.
REFRESHMENT & ENTERTAINMENT: The WM recommended that the Chinese Dinner for the Grand Master be held on June 2 and appointed WB Katagiri and WB Hodges as Co-Chairmen for that event.
BALLOTING: NONE.
PETITIONS: NONE.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a letter from Bro. Roar J. Bowman relating his deep concern and support for "Save the Temple Program", he also confided that due to his low income it would be necessary for him to make several small donations in order to reach his goal of a $100.00 to this worthy cause. The WM read a letter from Bro. Gilbert S. Howe concerning the Mailing of the Friendly Tips.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE.
NEW BUSINESS: WB Williams moved and Bro. Sketo seconded to replace $312.00 in to the Harmony Fund from donations. CARRIED The WM read Art. 130 of the Grand Lodge Constn. concerning use of lodge funds. He then requested Bro. Sketo to secure details concerning the Bazaar sponsored by O.E.S. Chapter No. 2 to be held 19 – 20 May, and also requested all Brethren who could to meet at the Temple on Saturday at 10:00 for a clean up detail and also to help with the cleaning of Bro. Rhoades house. He then requested Brothers Judy and Lamm to place themselves West of the Altar and there he presented them with their Master Mason's Diplomas. Both Brethren responded with appropriate remarks.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons the WM announced that we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM, in the East, Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
