The 627th SPECIAL MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 9th day of May, 1979.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:00 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, WB Thomas H. Hodges (Acting SW) in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
The WM recognized those Brethren present who had distinguished themselves in Masonry as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.
At the sound of the gavel in the East, labor in this Lodge of Master Masons was suspended and a Lodge of Fellowcraft Masons opened for the purpose of listening to the proficiency in this degree by the following named brother:
ROHRER, Francis Robert.
The examination was conducted by Bro. Sketo, after which the WM pronounced Bro. Rohrer proficient, and asked the Brethren to join him in congratulating Bro. Rohrer for his fine proficiency. After a hearty round of applause the WM requested the SD to conduct Bro. Rohrer from the Lodge room.
At the sound of the gavel in the East this Lodge of Fellowcraft Masons was closed and Labor in a Lodge of Master Masons resumed for the purpose of raising to. the sublime degree of Master Mason the following named Brother:
ROHRER, Francis Robert.
Bro. Rohrer was obligated as a Master Mason with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, WB Thomas H. Hodges (Acting SW) in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
It being high twelve the Lodge was called from labor to refreshment for the purpose of raising Bro. Rohrer to the sublime degree of Master Mason with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, WB Thomas H. Hodges (Acting SW) in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
As the youngest Master Mason in Far East Lodge No. 1, and possibly in the world at that moment, the WM invited Bro. Rohrer to make any remarks he wished. Bro. Rohrer responded appropriately. Bro. Rohrer was then given a round of applause and congratulated by the WM and many others. The WM also congratulated WB Katagiri for a fine lecture and the other officers and protems for a fine job this evening.
There being nothing further to come before this Lodge of Master Masons the WM announced that we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 22:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, WB Thomas H. Hodges (Acting SW) in the West, and WB Saburo Katagiri, JW in the South.
