The 263rd STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 6th day of June 1979.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW in the West, and Bro. David G Delpino, MM, (acting JW) in the South.
The WM extended recognition to those Brethren who had distinguished themselves in Masonry as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.
He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report presented by Bro. Matthew Zalewski, and WB Hodges moved and Bro. Sketo seconded that the report be accepted as presented subject to the usual audit and that the book be brought on balance. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and Bro. Lamm seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED. The Secretary then read the legal fee and Bro. Lamm moved and WB Hodges seconded that it be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the peport of the several committees:
CHARITY: NONE.
PAY OF MEMBERS: NONE.
REFRESHMENT: The WM appointed Bro. Francis R. Rohrer as Chairman. Bro. Rohrer accepted.
FRIENDLY TIPS: The WM reported sending 220 copies to Bro. Howe with postage and that all had now been mailed out. WM appointed WB Hodges as member of Friendly Tips committee.
COACHING: Bro. Sketo reported Bro. Rohrer will be ready next week and Bro. Clark still working. WM requested Bro. Sketo to contact Bro. Forbes.
SICK & VISITATION: MWB Robertson reported no further information concerning the condition of the wife of Bro. Ohashi. The WM expressed hope for a speedy recovery of wife of MWB Nishiyama.
MASONIC EDUCATION: NONE.
AUDIT NONE.
TEMPLE TRUST FUND: NONE.
HOUSE: The WM reported a meeting of the three using bodies and the supposed representative of Masonic Halls Ltd. H.K. The three bodies again agreed to try and purchase the Temple and property if clear title could be furnished.
BALLOTING: NONE.
PETITIONS: NONE.
CORRESPONDENCE: The WM read a letter from the Grand Master concerning the severance of Masonic communications with the Grand lodge of Belgium until further notice.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Brief discussion on the whereabouts of the 3 PM's aprons and jewels were located. The WM is to investigate.
NEW BUSINESS: The WM announced he will request a dispensation to open the Stated Meeting at 12:00 hours on 4 July in order to have a picnic in the afternoon to celebrate our Independence Day. He also announced that he and Bro. Sketo will attend a meeting to inquire about a booth during the local Independence Day celebration to be held 1 July at the ball field near Area 1. He then requested Bro. "J" "W" Lamm to place himself West of the Altar where he presented Bro. Lamm with Life Membership card No. 176. Bro. Lamm responded with appropriate remarks.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons the WM announced that we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:00 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, Bro. Millard C Sketo, SW in the West, and Bro. David G Delpino, MM (acting JW) in the South.
