The 629th SPECIAL MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-Cho, Yokohama, Japan on the 11th day of July, 1979.
A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:00 hours with Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW, (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Fred W Smith, Secretary Yokosuka Lodge No. 20, (acting SW) in the West, and WB Jack C. Barrs, (acting JW) in the South.
The WM then recognized the Brethren present who had distinguished themselves in Masonry as listed in the Tiler's register of this date.
He then announced that this Lodge of Master Masons had convened for the purpose of fellowship, instruction in the floor work, and all-round discussion of the activities of Far East Lodge No. 1. He then called the Brethren free from restraint for the above purpose.
WB Jack C. Barrs then conducted an open discussion, with questions and answers, concerning the many aspects of our Lodge operations etc., which continued in a very informative manner for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The main thrust of these discussions was to enlighten the Brethren on the many complexities which we must face, along with the Master, in order to continue to operate our Lodge, maintain our present Temple and property and to further the aims and goals of Masonic Fraternity here in Japan.
At the sound of the Gavel in the East, the WM announced that there being nothing further to come before this Lodge of Master Masons we would proceed to close.
Bro. Fred W. Smith, Yokosuka Lodge No. 20, then conveyed fraternal greetings from the WM, Officers and Members of his Lodge and invited all to visit whenever possible. WB Barrs congratulated Bro. J. W. Lamm on his work up to now and wished him God's speed on his new assignment and thanked all for attending this evening. Bro. Lamm responded with appropriate remarks.
Peace and harmony prevailing this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:15 hours with Bro. Millard C Sketo, SW, (acting WM) in the East, Bro. Fred W. Smith, Secretary Yokosuka Lodge No. 20, (acting SW) in the West, and Bro. Jack C. Barrs, (acting JW) in the South.
(There were 10 Brethren present.)
