Minutes 3 October 1979

The 267th STATED MEETING of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 3rd day of October 1979.

A Lodge of Master Masons was opened in due and ancient form at 19:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW in the West, and Bro. Byron D. Brown, JW (Acting) in the South.

The WM extended recognition to those Brethren who had distinguished themselves in Masonry and first time visitors as listed in the Tiler's register of this date, and presented cards to first-time visitors.

The WM then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of October, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent meetings.

The reading of the minutes was deferred due to the fact that they were not available.

The financial report was postponed due to the illness of our Treasurer Bro. Matthew Zalewski.

There were no bills presented.

Next was the report of the several committees;

PETITIONS: The WM read petitions from the following:

CHARITY: None.

REFRESHMENT & ENTERTAINMENT: The WM gave a brief report on the Orphan's Picnic and thanked those involved for making this another successful effort. The WM then asked that all who could please come and assist in the effort for Navy Friendship Day in Yokosuka since this was an excellent opportunity to increase our Harmony Fund.

FRIENDLY TIPS: The WM reported that due to an extremely heavy schedule for both himself and the Lodge, the FT's had not yet been done.

COACHING: None

SICK & VISITATION: The WM presented a report on Bro. Zalewski. He stated that Bro. Zalewski's condition had deteriorated rapidly and that the outlook was not good. He asked that the Brethren pray for Bro. Matt to recover if it be God's will.

MASONIC EDUCATION: No Report.

AUDIT: No Report.

TEMPLE TRUST FUND: No Change

HOUSE: The WM announced that the legal investigation which had been undertaken was now complete. A discussion of the results was held after which it was decided that the best course of action FE No. 1 could take was to simply follow a "business as usual" course, until and if further legal action is pursued by the opposition.

BALLOTING: Secret balloting upon the petition of the below named applicant was held and he was elected to receive the Degrees of Masonry in this Lodge:

CORRESPONDENCE: The Grand Lodge Bulletin was read.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS: The WM announced that our annual Past Master's Night would be held on October 24th. He stated that Mr. Eugenio would be initiated on that night. He also announced that we would hold a courtesy 2nd and 3rd Degree for Yokosuka No. 20 on October 10th and 17th respectively.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of Master Masons the WM announced that we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 21:30 hours with WB Jack C. Barrs, WM in the East, Bro. Millard C. Sketo, SW in the West, and Bro. Byron D. Brown JW (Acting) in the South.
