The 274th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&AM was held at the Masonic Temple No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 7th day of May 1980.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1930 hours with WB Katagiri, WM in the East, Br. Howard, (acting) SW in the West, and Br. Ohashi, JW in the South.
The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren and first time visitors as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of May, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary then read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's report which was read by MWB Yamada. The Treasurer also ead a recap of the current status of Lodge investments. WB Barrs moved and Br. Howard seconded that the Treasurer's report be accepted subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period. WB Hodges moved and Br. Howard seconded that we pay our bills. MOTION CARRIED.
Ballotting was then held on the petitions of the following persons individually:
All were approved to receive the Degrees of Masonry in Far East Lodge No. 1.

Next was the report of the several committees.
CHARITY: A negative report was given by the WM.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: Br. Ohashi gave a report from the committee and stated that with the help of Br. Clark he expected to have refreshments at the meetings.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges stated that the first edition for this year had been mailed and that the deadline for the next edition was June 20th. The WM repeated that the would like maximum input from the Brethren so that we could use the FTs to communicate with the Brethren in the States.
COACHING: WB Hodges gave a negative report but stated that he expected to have more information when the Brethren were available again as a lot of them were at sea now.
SICK AND VlSITATION: WB Barrs gave a negative report.
AUDIT: WB Hodges reported that no progress had been made but said that the current financial status of the lodge seemed to be clear and expressed hope that some work could be done soon on the lost record problem which the lodge faces as a result of the death of our Treasurer last year.
TEMPLE TRUST FUND: Given by the Treasurer with the report on investments.
HOUSE: WB Barrs gave a brief report on the Temple legal problem and stated that while very little progress had been made since the Special Meeting last month, he hoped that there would be some more news soon.
NEW BUSINESS: WB Barrs announced that MWB Nishiyama and Br. Taku Nishiyama had contributed ¥5,000 each to the Temple Trust Fund and extended the Lodge's thanks.
MWB Robertson stated athat an endowment fund had recently been started and that several individual contributions had been made and asked the Brethren to contribute to this worthy cause.
WB Barrs gave a report on our current Certificate of Deposit with Bank Haus Deak.
The WM stated the Trestle Board for a Second Degree which was scheduled for the 20th May (possibly the 19th) for our EA Br. Colburn. He also gave information on the upcoming Grand Lodge Children's Festival and invited all who could to attend.
WB Hodges extended an invitation to all Brethren to attend the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Lodge Star in the East No. 640 SC on May 13th at 7:30.
There being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 2150 hours with WB Katagiri in the East, Br. Howard in the West and Br. Ohashi in the South.
