Minutes 5 November 1980

The 280th Stated meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 3 Bluff, Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 5th day of November 1980.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1930 hours with WB Katagiri, WM in the East, Br Ohashi, SW (acting) in the West,and Br LaSalle, JW (acting) in the South.

The WM recognized the distinguished Brethren and first time visitors present as listed in the Tiler's register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of November, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings. The Secretary then read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next the Treasurer's report was given by MWB Yamada. WB Barrs moved and WB Hodges seconded that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the month of October. WB Hodges moved and Br Dodd seconded that we pay our bills. MOTION CARRIED.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

CHARITY: Negative.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hodges reported that he hoped to make arrangements soon for the Installation Banquet. Br Ohashi reported that the Lodge arrangements werer proceeding. Some discussion was also held regarding invitations to other Lodges and the Installation programs. Matters are proceeding normally on all these items.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges reported that the FTs had been printed and mailed or distributed.

COACHING: Negative.

SICK AND VISITATION: Negative.

MASONIC HISTORY AND EDUCATION: Negative.

AUDIT: Negative.

FINANCE AND INVESTMENT: WB Barrs discussed our Bank Haus Deak investment and stated that he would be trying in the near future to resolve the return of our money as we had requested in August.

INVESTMENT: MWB Nishiyama will report next month on the investment policy for the Lodge.

TEMPLE: Our court date of November 4, 1980 has passed with no further progress being reported.

There was no balloting and no new petitions were received.

CORRESPONDENCE

NEW BUSINESS: The WM discussed his recent contact with WB Montreal from Peru and presented several mementoes to the Lodge which WB Montreal had given to him during their meeting.

The required sections of the by-laws and constitution concerning the election qualification and installation of officers were read.

There being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs,the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 2055 hours with WB Katagiri in the East, Br Ohashi in the West and Br LaSalle in the South.

There were 8 Brethren present.
