The 310th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 31, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 14th day of January 1984.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1344 hours with Bro. Otani, SW, (Acting) WM in the East, Bro. Norman, JD, (Acting) SW in the West, and Bro. Otani, MA, (Acting) JW in the South.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of January 1984, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report given by MWB Yamada. It was moved by MWB Yamada and seconded by WB Hodges that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and MWB Yamada seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges reported that MWB Nishiyama has suffered an accident on 03 January 1984 and broke his arm. He is expected to be in the hospital another 2–3 weeks. Bro. Otani reported the death of Bro. Takao Saito, an Entered Apprentice of this Lodge, of heart attack. Bro. Saito was dropped for non-progress in 1972/73.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hodges reported on the status of the Installation Banquet for the benefit of the Brethren.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges advised that as soon as he receives Bro. Otani's message "From the East" he will publish the next edition of the FT's.
COACHING: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: In the absence of MWB Nishiyama, no report was submitted.
AUDIT: In the absence of MWB Nishiyama, no report was submitted.
INVESTMENT: MWB Yamada submitted a negative.
HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
BALLOTTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: WB Hodges read Special Dispensation 51-83; the GL Bulletin dated December 20, 1983 and other correspondence from GL and Sister Lodges.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bro. Otani reminded the Brethren that the Installation will be held on 04 February 84. He requested that all be present NLT 1530 hours so that the Lodge can be opened and a practice session held prior to the Installation ceremonies.
NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Otani made Committee assignments and submitted his annual schedule as per enclosure (1) hereto.
MWB Yamada passed out copies of the Annual Finance Report, as per enclosure (2) hereto, with the request that the Brethren review and bring up any questions at our next Stated Meeting.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1433 hours with Bro. Otani, SW, (Acting) WM in the East, Bro. Norman, JD, (Acting) SW in the West, and Bro. Otani, MA, (Acting) JW in the South.
