Minutes 13 April 1985

The 323rd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 31, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 13th day of April 1985.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1430 hours with WB Ohashi, WM in the East, MWB Nishiyama, PGM, SW in the West, and WB Hunt, PM, (Acting) JW in the South.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of April 1985, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings. However, due to a lack of the report, the reading was postponed to the next Stated Meeting.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by MWB Yamada. It was moved by MWB Yamada and seconded by MWB Nishiyama that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and MWB Yamada moved and WB Otani seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: Motion was made by MWB Yamada that ¥30,000 be donated to the Grand Lodge Children's Festival, which was seconded by WB Otani and the motion carried. Also, motion was made by WB Hunt the ¥30,000 be donated to the Grand Lodge Emergency Relief Funds, which was seconded by MWB Nishiyama. The motion carried.

SICK AND VISITATION: Nothing reported but the Secretary read a letter from the Grand Lodge regarding the passing away of Brother William Lepper, and silent prayer was offered. The WM then ordered the Lodge Charter to be draped for one month in memory of Brother Lepper's demise.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Otani reported the planning of the Grand Master's dinner including the fellowship dinner and invitation to the widows of departed Brethren.

FRIENDLY TIPS: None except the discussions made by the Brethren regarding the mailing costs and procedures.

COACHING: None.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: None.

AUDIT: None.

INVESTMENT: None.

HOUSE: WB Hunt reported the status of the new building with its completion target of November this year and reaction with the neighboring residents for environment problems, etc.

BALLOTTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a few correspondences and the Monthly Bulletin of Grand Lodge.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: MWB Nishiyama reported the status of his son, Jun Nishiyama, who has been staying at the dormitory of his auto driving school. Proper time for his initiation will be later reported.

NEW BUSINESS: MWB Yamada reported on the status of the blood donation campaign initiated by Tokyo Yuai Lodge No. 11 for specific operation to be carried out by the Kitazato University Hospital but the due date is too close for the Brethren to meet the request.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1610 hours with WB Ohashi, WM in the East, MWB Nishiyama, PGM, SW in the West, and WB Hunt, PM, (Acting) JW in the South.
