The 328th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 31, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 14th day of December 1985.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1420 hours with WB Ohashi, WM in the East, MWB Nishiyama, PGM, SW in the West, and WB Hunt, PM, JW in the South.
The WM called up the lodge up for prayer on behalf of MWB Yoshio Yamada, PGM after which the WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren (and first time visitors) as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date.
He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of December 1985, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Due to the death of MWB Yamada, no Treasurer's Report was rendered.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and MWB Nishiyama seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges was pleased to submit a negative.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Otani submitted a negative.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
COACHING: MWB Nishiyama reported that his son, Jun, hopes to be ready to give his proficiency at the stated meeting of January 86. WB Ohashi reported on the progress of Brother Yamaguchi.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: MWB Nishiyama submitted a negative.
AUDIT: No report required.
INVESTMENT: Due to the death of MWB Yamada, no report was rendered.
HOUSE: WB Hodges and RWB Wertheimber, WM of Lodge Star in the East No 640, reported on the progress of the new temple. Outside shell is finished, working on inside. Tentative scheduled to have grand opening on 08 February 1986. Masonic Hall Ltd. will keep all informed.
BALLOTTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletins dated 20 Sep, Oct and Nov 85 and other appropriate correspondence.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Secretary reported that the following named Brethren will be suspended for NPD on 01 Jan 86 unless their dues are received NLT 31 Dec 85:
At the instructions of WB Ohashi WB Hodges read Article II of the Lodge By-Laws and Articles 100, 100a and 100b of the GL Constitution.
NEW BUSINESS: MWB Ohashi reported on the arrangements for the burial of MWB Yamada which is projected to be held between 25–30 Dec 85. He instructed the Secretary to contact the GM and request that GL Officiate at the burial.
The WM then announced that we, would hold our annual elections to elect the principal officers of this lodge for the ensuing Masonic year. The following named Brethren were duly elected to the position indicated:.
WB Hunt, WME, announced that the installation of officers will be held on 15 February 1986 at the new Masonic Temple, subject to confirmation. He also announced that the appointed officers for the ensuing year will be appointed by him at the January 1986 Stated Meeting.
After appropriate remarks by RWB Frank J. Wertheimber, WM of Lodge Star in the East No. 640, SC, the WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1555 hours with WB Ohashi, WM in the East, MWB Nishiyama, PGM, SW in the West, and WB Hunt, PM, JW in the South.
