The 331st Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 10th day of May 1986.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1430 hours with WB Hunt, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Ohashi, TR, (Acting) JW in the South.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of May 1986, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
No Treasurer's Report was rendered.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Ohashi seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Hunt reported that there have been no calls on charity.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges submitted a negative, however, WB Ohashi reported on the status of MWB Nishiyama.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB submitted a negative.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges reported that he is still working on the the next issue.
COACHING: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: No report.
AUDIT: WB Ohashi submitted a negative.
INVESTMENT: WB Hodges reported that we have received our quarterly interest payment from Merrill Lynch and Co. in the amount of ¥144,000.
HOUSE: WB Hodges reported that funds are needed to pay Mrs. Nagumo and that each of the two bodies using the Temple will be assessed ¥75,000 each to replenish the House Committee's bank account.
BALLOTTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: WB Hodges read appropriate portions of the GL Bulletin of April 1986 and then read a letter from the Grand Secretary which forwarded a letter from a Brother living and working in Norway who would like to receive any old stamps received by the lodge or any Brother.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: RWB Gustav Robert Swanson, PM, was duly obligated a Dual Member of this Lodge.
NEW BUSINESS: None
After appropriate remarks by several of the Brethren present, and extremely meaingful remarks by WB Swanson, the WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1510 hours with WB Hunt, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Ohashi, TR, (Acting) JW in the South.
(There were 15 Brethren present of which only 4 were members of this Lodge)
