Minutes 18 October 1986

The 334th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 18th day of October 1986.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1435 hours with WB Hunt, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Ohashi, PM, TR, (Acting) JW in the South.

The WM raised the lodge in remembrance of Bros. Frank J. Colter and Herbert T. Fukumoto.

The WM then recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of October 1986, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Ohashi. It was moved by WB Ohashi and seconded by WB Otani that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Ohashi seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: WB Hunt submitted a negative.

SICK AND VISITATION: Nothing to report.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Otani submitted a negative.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: Nothing to report.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: No report.

AUDIT: WB Hodges reported that all accounts balance properly and that there are no discrepancies in any account.

INVESTMENT: WB Hunt requested that an update on the status of uninvested funds at Grand Lodge be prepared by the Treasurer.

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: By secret ballot, the Brethren elected Mr. William George Phillips to receive the degrees of Masonry in this lodge.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletins of 20 September and October 1986 and other pertinent correspondence.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB Hodges moved and WB Otani seconded a motion that the lodge donate ¥30,000 to the Eye Bank through Kyoto Masonic Lodge. MOTION CARRIED

The matter of Brother Yamaguchi was discussed after which it was determined that no action would be taken at this time.

The WM then directed that Article II, Sections 1 & 2 of the lodge By-Laws be read.

NEW BUSINESS: It was tentatively decided that Mr. Phillips would be initiated on 8 November 1986.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1605 hours with WB Hunt, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Ohashi, PM, TR, (Acting) JW in the South.
