Minutes 11 June 1988

The 350th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A. M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 11th day of June 1988.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1432 hours with Bro. Watanabe, Acting WM in the East, WB Hunt, PM, MA, Acting SW in the West, and Bro. Oliver, JW in the South.

At the sound of the gavel the lodge was raised for a moment of silent prayer in remembrance of Brother Harry T. Lipsky who died 08 April 1988 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The Charter was ordered draped for 30 days.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June 1988, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Otani, PM. It was moved by WB Otani and seconded by Bro. Oliver that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Hunt seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: Bro. Watanabe submitted a negative.

SICK AND VISITATION: No report.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hunt reported that Harmony Lodge #18 will be dark during June thru August but they plan on having "fellow-ship" meetings. The June meeting will take place at the Hamamatsu Building on the 22nd at about 1830 hours. All are welcome to attend.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: Bro. Watanabe reported on the progress of Bro. Murata.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: No report.

AUDIT: No report.

INVESTMENT: WB Hodges reported that he and WB Ashenden have not yet met with representatives of Merrill Lynch to discuss an investment suitable for the Temple Trust Funds. They will meet as soon as WB Ashenden's schedule permits

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: None

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the G/L Bulletin of May 20, 1988 and two letters from the Grand Master.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: At the request of WB Ashenden, WB Hodges requested Bro. Watanabe to arrange for the Passing of Bro. Yoshitake and for WB Otani to discuss and coordinate with MWB Nishiyama concerning the raising of Bro. Jun Nishiyama. He also reminded the Brethren that their support of WB Ashenden at the official visit on the 14th to Lodge Star in the East 640, S.C. is requested.

NEW BUSINESS: Bro Watanabe after discussions with the Brethren announced that Bro. Yoshitake will be passed on the 29th of June 1988 commencing at 1930 hours. The Secretary to send a summons to the Brethren with details of the special meeting.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1532 hours with Bro. Watanabe, Acting WM in the East, WB Hunt, PM, MA, Acting SW in the West, and Bro. Oliver, JW in the South.
