The 369th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 10th day of March 1990.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1423 hours with WB Watanabe PM, SW, (Acting) WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JD, JWE (Acting) JW in the South.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren (and first time visitors) as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of March 1990, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by WB Heath that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Heath seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Watanabe was pleased to submit a negative.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges was pleased to submit a negative. WB Heath reported on the progress of WB Harrall. WB Watanabe reported on MWB Nishiyama's situation as he understands it.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hodges volenteered to make the arrangements for the installation banquet providing it is held in Yokohama. After discussion, WB Watanabe announced that the insta1laton of officers will be held on 14 April 1990 immediately after our Stated Meeting and that the installation will be open. MWB Ditto and WB Heath to be our installing officers. The banquet to be held at the Negishi All Hands club. Bro. Lindstrom will be in charge of arrangements and will be assisted by WB Hodges.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges requested the pillars to prepare during their year in office an article suitable for publishing as we need to publish the happenings of the lodge to let the Brethren know we are still functioning and well.
COACHING: WB Watanabe reported on the progress of our younger Masons.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Bro. McCauley reported that the lodge history for 1989 is "in the computer".
AUDIT: WB Watanabe appointed Bro. McCauley and Bro. Lindstrom in addition to himself, to audit the books prior to the May 1990 stated meeting.
INVESTMENT: WB Hodges reported that the Temple Trust Fund investment will pay semi-annual interest of ¥110,000 (net) on 20 March 1990. Upon receipt CITIBANK will roll it into a one year time deposit.
HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
BALLOTTING: NONE
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: NONE
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletin of 20 February 1990.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB Hodges and WB Heath spoke on the procedures that will be followed at the Grand Lodge Communication that will be held on 16/17 March 1990. At the conclusion WB Hodges asked for a show of hands of those who will be atending the banquet. WB Watanabe and Bro. Lindstrom plus 2 indicated their intention to attend.
NEW BUSINESS: WB Hodges spoke on the need for the lodge to have its own copy machine and advised that he has been able to locate a used machine in very good condition for ¥50,000. He intends to ask Masonic Hall Ltd to purchase the machine for use by both Lodge Star in the East No 640 and Far East Lodge #l Bro. Yabe, a first time visitor, then spoke briefly on his initiation passing and raising in Lodge Stanford Raffles No 7444 on the rolls of the Grand Lodge of England when he was stationed in Singapore. Bro. Yabe also voiced his intentions to affiliate with Far East Lodge No 1. WB Watanabe thanked Bro Yabe and spoke for all the Brethren when he informed Bro. Yabe that he would be most welcome as an affiliated member of this lodge.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed, to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1538 hours with WB Watanabe PM (Acting) WM in the East, Bro. McCauley JW, (Acting) SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JD, JWE, (Acting) JW in the South.
There were 7 Brethren present (but only 5 members).
