The 371st Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 12th day of May 1990.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1433 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW, in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JW in the South.
The death of MWB S. L. Kitamura, PGM, on 25 Apr. 1990 was announced after which the lodge was raised for a moment of silent prayer and the charter draped for a period of 30 days in respect for MWB Kitamura.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date.
He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of May 1990, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by Bro. McCauley that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and Bro. McCauley seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Watanabe reported on his reading of the literature from the YIWC and it was decided that further information and investigation is needed. He asked Bro. Lindstrom to ascertain as much information as possible and to report his findings when as complete as circumstances permit.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Watanabe reported on his continuing efforts to contact WMB Nishiyama. He also reported that Bro. Murata is not feeling too well and sends his regrets.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: The picnic planned for this summer was discussed extensively and it was decided to hold it on 29 July with a rain date of 05 Aug 1990. WB Watanabe requested Bro. Yoshitake to investigate the availabilty of public parks with cooking facilities that can be used for our picnic. If none can be located he was requested to determine the availability of park facilities where the picnic can be held with the food being brought to the park He requested Bro. Yoshitake to report his findings at the June meeting.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges reminded the Pillars that he would be most happy to publish any message they might desire to convey to be Brethren.
COACHING: WB Watanabe submitted a negative.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Through WB Watanabe WB Hodges reguested Bro. McCauley to continue with the preparation of the lodge history but with the objective of publishing the 1989 and 1990 histories in early 1991. Bro. McCauley graciously consented.
AUDIT: WB Watanabe requested the members of the audit committee to be at lodge at least 30 to 45 minutes early next month so that the books can be audited.
INVESTMENT: The Grand Lodge Consolidated Investment Schedule was discussed and WB Hodges was instructed to ask Grand Lodge the meaning of the columns headed "Uninvested Amount" and "Accrued Interest" and to request Grand Lodge to continue to forward all uninvested lodge funds to us whenever they become available.
HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
BALLOTTING: None
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: The Secretary read a request for Demit from WB Jay L. Harrall, PM. Bro Harrall having paid his dues thru 31 December 1990 and otherwise being in good standing, WB Watanabe granted the Demit.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the Grand Lodge Bulletin of 20 April 1990.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: WB Watanabe presented his tentative agenda for the balance of 1990 and instructed that a copy be mailed to all the incountry Brethren with the request that they submit comments and or recommendations to improve the schedule or to bring conflicts to his attention.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 15:46 hours with WB Watanabe, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JW in the South.
