Minutes 9 June 1990

The 372nd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 9th day of June 1990.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1455 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Yabe MM, (Acting) JW in the South.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June 1990, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by Bro. McCauley that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and Bro. McCauley seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: WB Watanabe submitted a negative on behalf of Bro. Lindstrom who was unable to attend today.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges reported that Bra McCauley's wife is experiencing some heart problems and is undergoing tests to determine the exact situation. WB Watanabe requested Bro. McCauley to keep the lodge informed of his wife's condition. He then reported on the status of MWB Nishiyama and WB Otani. who is suffering from burcitis.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: Discussed picnic. It has been determined that none of the public parks in Yokohama permit cooking on site. Pending final determination that suitable facilities cannot be found in the public sector WB Hodges was instructed to make tentative reservations for one of the facilities at Negishi. Final decision to be made week of 11 June 1990.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: WB Watanabe reported on the progress of our new MMs.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: No report.

AUDIT: Bro. McCauley reported that the books have been audited thru 31 May 1990. No discrepancies were noted.

INVESTMENT: WB Hodges reported that G/L recently forwarded a check in the amount of ¥344,186 which represents interest earned on our Consolidated Investment. The money was deposited in a one year time deposit at Citibank.

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: The Secretary read a petition tor Dual Membership in this lodge submitted by Bro. Nobuaki YABE hailing from Stamford Raffles Lodge No 1444 on the rolls of the Grand Lodge of England. WB Watanabe directed that the petition take the usual course.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletin of 20 May 1990 and after the lodge was raised, the Grand Master's Proclamation proclaiming the week of 22 thru 25 June 1990 as INTERNATIONAL RAINBOW WEEK. WB Hodges then moved and Bro. McCauley seconded a motion that the lodge donate $150.00 to the Rainbow Girls to help off-set some of their expenses for their upcoming Grand Assembly in Tokyo. MOTION CARRIED.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None that has not already been recorded elsewhere in these minutes.

NEW BUSINESS: WB Watanabe discussed the situation of the lodge noting that attendance is again going down. He has some thoughts on this matter but needs more time to develop them. He may be able to verbalize further next month. He announced a number of upcoming Masonic events and recommended attendance to as many functions as time and circimstances may permit.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1550 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Yabe, (Acting) JW in the South.
