The 374th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No 1 F.&A.M was held at the Masonic Temple No 250 Yamashita-cho Naka-ku Yokohama Japan on the 8th day of September 1990.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:20 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West and Bro. Lindstrom, in the South.
The WM welcomed everyone and expressed his hope that they enjoyed their summer vacation. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of September 1990, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Otani, PM. It was moved by WB Otani and seconded by Bro. McCauley that the Treasurer's report be approved as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and Bro. Lindstrom seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Watanabe was pleased to submit a negative.
SICK AND VISITATION: WB Watanabe reported on the status of Bro. Yoshitake and MWB Nishiyama reporting that both are well. MWB Nishiyama while physically weak and fragile is in good mental health and appears to be happy and content.
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hodges gave a wrap-up report on the lodge picnic. It was the clear consensus of the Brethren that we should continue to have an annual picnic. WB Watanabe reminded the Brethren that it is an excellent means to invite non-Masons to a lodge function, thus exposing them to our fraternity. Bro. McCauley added his thanks and those of the Brethren to WB Hodges for his efforts to make the picnic a success.
FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
COACHING: WB Watanabe reported a negative
MASONIC EDUCATION / LODGE HISTORY: WB Watanabe reported that he has undertaken the task of preparing a Japanese/English Masonic Dictionary, a project that will take quite a bit of effort and a lot of time.
AUDIT: No report required.
INVESTMENT: WB Hodges reported that he had received a phonecall from MWB Ditto, Grand Secretary concerning a Consolidated Investment Fund Bond maturing and asking us what we want to do with our portion (in excess of ¥7,000,000). He is sending details after which an answer to his question can be provided.
HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.
BALLOTTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletins for July and August 1990.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Lindstrom reminded the Brethren that Christmas is coming up and he anticipated that the Yokohama Women's Club will be needing assistance similar to past years. WB Watanabe asked Bro. Lindstrom to keep the lodge informed of their specific needs when identified.
WB Watanabe then asked Bro. Lindstrom to head up our "Thanksgiving Day Dinner Affair" tentatively scheduled for 23 November commencing at 1800 hours at the Negishi Club.
WB Hodges moved that we purchase new working aprons and collars cost not to exceed $400.00. MOTION CARRIED.
Bro. Lindstrom advised that due to the press of his work schedule he is not prepared to give the lecture. He hopes to be ready by our October meeting.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1520 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JW in the South.
