Minutes 8 December 1990

The 377th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 8th day of December 1990.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:28 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JW in the South.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of December 1990, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by WB Heath that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Heath seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: Bro. Lindstrom gave a report on the orphans Xmas Party and invited the Brethren to the party which is being held today in the gymnasium.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB Watanabe was pleased to submit a negative.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Watanabe thanked Bro. Lindstrom and Hodges for their efforts to make the Thanksgiving Dinner the tremendous success it was. Bro. Lindstrom extended his thanks to all those who attended and Bro. Hodges reported on the number attending and the cost.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: WB Watanabe submitted a negative.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Bro. McCauley submitted a negative.

AUDIT: No report required.

INVESTMENT: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: None

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: The Secretary read a petition for the degrees of Freemasonry submitted by Mr. Bienaventura Joseph MACOMB after which the WM directed that the petition run its normal course.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary noted that he has not received the monthly Bulletin from Grand Lodge. He then read a thank you letter from Kyoto Lodge No. 5.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The WM requested the Secretary to read Article II Sections 1 and 2 and articles 100, 100a and 100b of the Grand Lodge Constitution. The Secretary then read the names of the Brethren who will be suspended for non-payment of dues at COB 31 December 1990 providing their dues have not been received. The Brethren thus named were CHADD, Donald J.; JONES, David Darrel; MAYER, Judge Dalton; RITCHIE, Andrew Murl; and ROHRER, Francis Albert.

NEW BUSINESS: Election of Officers for Masonic year 1991 was conducted under the direction of the WM and the following Brethren were elected to the position indicated:

The lodge was called briefly free from restraint and at the sound of the gavel in the East, Bro. McCauley announced that the following named Brethren were appointed to the position indicated:

WB Watanabe announced that the Installation will be held on the 19th of January 1990. MWB Chester L Ditto PGM will be the installing officer and WB William M. Heath PM the installing Marshal.

He directed the Secretary to request two dispensations, one to change our stated meeting for the month of January 1991 from the 12th to the 19th to permit a business meeting prior to the installation and two to permit WB Heath to serve as an officer in two different lodges during the same year. He requested Bros. Lindstrom and Hodges to make the necessary arrangements for the banquet which is to be held at the Negishi Navy Club immediately following the installation. He also directed that the installation be an open installation. He then reported on the Grand Lodge of Sorrow held on the 24th.

Bro. Smith extended fraternal greetings from the Officers and Brethren of Tokyo Lodge No. 2 and made a number of other announcements. WB Watanabe requested Bro. Smith to convey to the WM and Brethren of Tokyo Lodge No. 2 our warmest fraternal greetings.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 15:52 hours with WB Watanabe PM, WM in the East, Bro. McCauley, SW in the West, and Bro. Lindstrom, JW in the South.
