Minutes 11 April 1992

The 394th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 11th day of April 1992.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1415 hours with WB McCauley, PM, WM in the East, WB Watanabe, PM, JS, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW in the South.

At the sound of the gavel the lodqe was raised for silent prayer in remembrance of Bro. Dale Davis who died on 03 March 1992. The charter was then ordered draped for a period of 30 days.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of April 1992, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by Bro. Lindstrom that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and Bro. Lindstrom seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: WB McCauley was pleased to receive a negative.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB McCauley was pleased to receive a negative.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: Bro. Lindstrom suggested we be thinking of our Annual Picnic. WB McCauley requested Bro. Lindstrom make tentative reservation for the picnic grounds at Negishi including a rain date.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: WB Hodges reported that MWB Ditto called to advise that Bro. Welsh was not yet proficient in the first degree but that he was working on it and he is confident that Bro. Welsh will be ready by our May meeting. WB McCauley then assigned parts to those Brethren present and instructed the Secretary to publish same in the summons for our May meeting.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: WB McCauley submitted a negative.

AUDIT: WB Watanabe submitted a negative.

INVESTMENT: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a letter from the GM under date of 04/03/92 requesting assistance of the Brethren in a translation project, the GL Bulletin of 20 March 1992 and a letter from the Scottish Rite Bodies.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB Hodges moved and WB Watanabe seconded a motion that we donate ¥100,000 to the Grand Lodge Children's Festival. MOTION CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS: WB McCauley announced that WB Otani will mark his 25th year as a Master Mason this year. He then announced that our GL Inspector for this year is RWB Akira Yamaya, Senior Grand Warden, MWGLOJ. WB Watanabe then discussed the need for physical assistance needed at the Annual Children's Festival due to the ever increasing number of attendees. He advised that he Committee is asking every Brother who can to please attend and lend a hand. WB McCauley and WB Hodges expressed their intentions of assisting providing some pending matters are suitably disposed of by that time. Both will know better by our May Stated Meeting. WB Hodges then requested WB McCauley relinquish the East to him for a few moments to permit WB Hodges the privilege of presenting WB McCauley with his Past Master's Certificate. WB McCauley received his PM Certificate with appropriate remarks and afterwards assumed the East.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 15:15 hours with WB McCauley, PM, WM in the East, WB Watanabe, PM, JS, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW in the South.
