Minutes 13 June 1992

The 396th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama. Japan on the 13th day of June, 1992.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:30 hours with WB McCauley, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, PM, TR, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW, in the South.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June 1992, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Otani. It was moved by WB Otani and seconded by WB Watanabe, PM, that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Watanabe seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: WB McCauley submitted a negative. WB Watanabe reported on the Annual Grand Lodge Children's Festival. WB Watanabe, WB Otani and Bro. Masaki participated and assisted in the event for which WB McCauley extended his gratitude.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB Watanabe advised that he continues to communicate our monthly meetings to MWB Nishiyama and even though he gets no response he believes that is not necessarily bad.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: On behalf of Bro. Lindstrom WB Hodges reported that the firm dates for the annual lodge picnic will be 01 August with a rain date of 08 August 1992. The dates that Bro. Lindstrom indicated at our May meeting had already been booked and were not available.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: It was reported that Bro. Welsh will be ready to give his 2° proficiency at July's meeting.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: WB McCauley submitted a negative.

AUDIT: None required.

INVESTMENT: As reported by the Treasurer, we received our first semi-annual interest payment from Merrill Lynch on 22 May 1992.

HOUSE: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

BALLOTTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletin of 20 May 1992.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB McCauley advised that we will confer the third degree of Masonry on Bro. Welsh at our July Stated Meeting and proceeded to make the necessary degree work assignments.

NEW BUSINESS: WB McCauley reported that he has received a communication from RWB Yamaya, SGW, requesting each lodge to appoint a lodge "reporter" who will channel information to GL for use in a quarterly GL bulletin. He advised that he would be discussing the assignment of a suitable Brother this very important responsibility and requested any Brother who might be interested to contact him.

WB Hodges then moved that WB Rowland P. Hunt, PM, and MWB Chester L. Ditto, PGM, be made Honorary Members of this lodge in recoanition of the contribution these two Brethren have made to the Craft and particularly to this lodge. WB Watanabe seconded the motion which was approved by acclamation by the Brethren present.

WB Hodges then moved and WB Watanabe seconded a motion that this lodge fund 50% of the cost of the computer software program "The Masons Program" which is being sold here in Japan by Data Management Systems at a cost of $199.00. MOTION CARRIED.

WB Otani then reported on a meeting with Brother Adrian E. Lee who was in Japan recently.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 15:38 hours with WB McCauley, PM, WM in the East, WB Otani, PM, TR, (Acting) SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW, in the South.
