Minutes 14 November 1992

The 400th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 14th day of November 1992.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:12 hours with WB McCauley PM, WM in the East, WB Heath PM, SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW in the South.

WB McCauley announced the death of Bros. Vernon Carl BJORK and Clayton ESTRADA on 06/29/92 and 10/26/92 respectively and afterwards raised the lodge for a moment of silent prayer in remembrance and then ordered the Charter draped for 30 days.

He then recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of November 1992, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Hodges, PM. It was moved by WB Hodges and seconded by WB Heath that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and WB Hodges moved and WB Heath seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: WB McCauley was pleased to receive a negative.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB McCauley was pleased to receive a negative.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WB Hodges reminded the Brethren of the upcoming Thanksgiving Day Dinner to be held on 27 November and encouraged those who have not yet made their reservations to do so. He advised that due to a sudden change in his plans the GM will be out of country and will no be able to attend. He has requested RWB Yamaya, SGW, to attend in his stead.

FRIENDLY TIPS: WB Hodges submitted a negative.

COACHING: Nothing to report.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: WB McCauley submitted a negative.

AUDIT: No report required.

INVESTMENT. WB Hodges submitted a negative.

HOUSE: WB Hodges pointed out that the new air conditioner/heater has been installed but is not yet hooked up.

BALLOTTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: The petition for Dual Membership submitted by Bro. Jack Peter SPIWAK, PM, Lodge Star in The East No 640, S.C, was read by the Secretary and ordered to take the usual course by the WM.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the GL Bulletin of 20 October 1992 and other pertinent correspondence.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB McCauley read Article II Sections 1 & 2 of the lodge By-Laws and Articles 100, 100a and 100b of the Constitution concerning the annual election of officers.

NEW BUSINESS: The Grand Master's letter of 4 November 1992 concerning the granting of a dispensation to form a lodge in Korea under this Grand Lodge was opened for discussion. After every Brother who desired to do so had spoken on the matter WB McCauley announced that a vote will be taken on this matter at our December 1992 Stated Meeting. The results of that vote will be forwarded to the Grand Master as the position of this lodge on this matter.

WB McCauley then turned to the Annual Election and Installation of Officers. After discussion and reaching of a consensus, WB McCauley announced that the installation will be held on 19 December 1992 and MWB Ditto, PGM, is to be requested to be our Installing Officer. The Secretary to send out appropriate letters to the various lodge giving the details of the installation and banquet to follow.

WB Heath extended fraternal greetings from the Officers and Brethren of Yokosuka Lodge No. 20. WB Hodges extended apologies from MWB Ditto and advised that MWB Ditto had indicated that he would probably be available to be our installing officers again this year but that we should confirm with him as quickly as possible.

WB Watanabe extended apologies on behalf of WB Otani.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 15:47 hours with WB McCauley PM, WM in the East, WB Heath PM, SW in the West, and WB Katagiri, PM, JW in the South.
