The 415th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-Ku, Yokohama, Japan on the 11th day of June 1994.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:14 hours with WM Watanabe, PM, WM in the East, Bro. Welsh, (Acting) SW in the West, and Bro. Warnell, (Acting) JW in the South.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June 1994, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.
The Acting Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's report given by Bro. Warnell. It was moved by Bro. Warnell and seconded by Bro. Welsh that the Treasurer's report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Acting Secretary then read the bills for the period and Bro. Warnell moved and Bro. Welsh seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees:
CHARITY: WB Katagiri reminded the brethren of the upcoming Wheelchair Event in Osaka on 19 June. Based on Bro. Welsh's suggestion that we find a local orphanage to support, Bro. Warnell reported that he found a local orphanage, the 'Our Lady of Lourdes Baby Home" located close to the lodge. We will discuss this possibility further at our July Stated Meeting.
SICK AND VISITATION: WM Watanabe and Bro. Warnell provided an update on WB Hodges' medical condition. We were happy to hear that WB Hodges is recovering well from his operation and should be able to attend lodge in July (our next Stated Meeting).
REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: WM Watanabe suggested that we have a "Table Lodge" meeting following our September Stated Meeting. Details will he discussed at our July Stated Meeting.
FRIENDLY TIPS: A negative report was submitted.
COACHING: Candidate Masaki has started work on the lecture portion of the First Degree.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Nothing to report.
AUDIT: WB Katagiri reported that the audit should commence after August.
INVESTMENT: A negative report was submitted.
HOUSE: A negative report was submitted.
BALLOTING: Nothing to report.
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: Two petitions were read, one from Mr. Yukio Kitamura and the other from Mr. Ken'ichi Miyata.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Acting Secretary read the G/L Bulletin of 24 May 1994, the March and April minutes of the Executive Committee GLOJ, a report from the Chairman of the Grand Lodge Charity Committee, a report regarding the Wheelchair Sportings Training Seminar, and four communications from the Grand Master:
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bro. Welsh provided additional information on the Kunitachi Lodge problems. WM Watanabe stated that he had talked to WB Hodges regarding the posting of Lodge notices at the Negishi Navy base. WB Hodges will look into getting this done. WM Watanabe stated that he will need people to help with degree work for the two new candidates. By next meeting, more details will be provided on who will participate.
NEW BUSINESS: Nothing to report.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 1530 hours with WB Watanabe, PM, WM in the East, Bro. Welsh (Acting), SW in the West and Bro. Warnell (Acting) JW in the South.
There were 5 Brethren present.
Because of an insufficient number of brethren expected to attend lodge, we had requested Special Dispensation to meet with less than seven members present.
