Minutes 11 November 1995

The 430th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1. F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple. No. 250 Yamashita-cho. Naka-ku, Yokohama. Japan on the 11th day of November, 1995.

A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 14:03 hours with Brother Warnell (Acting) WM in the East, WB Katagiri, PM, SW in the West, and Bro. Masaki, JW in the South.

The WM then welcomed MWB Yamaya, Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Japan, with Grand Honors.

The WM then recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Titer's Register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of November 1995. the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of the last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings.

The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Next, the WM advised that the Treasurer had called and regretted that he could not attend this Stated Meeting and advised that he would submit the Treasurer's report at the next Stated Meeting.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period and Bro. Warnell moved and WB Heath seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

CHARITY: Nothing to report.

SICK AND VISITATION: WB Katagiri provided an update on the medical condition of WB Ohashi.

REFRESHMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT: Nothing to report.

FRIENDLY TIPS: Nothing to report.

COACHING: WB Watanabe advised that Bro. Onoda would soon be ready to take his proficiency in the First Degree.

MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Nothing to report.

AUDIT: Nothing to report.

INVESTMENT: Nothing to report.

HOUSE: Nothing to report.

BALLOTTING: Favorable ballots were cast accepting Bro. Robert Montgomery as a dual member of our Lodge. Also, during the latter part of the meeting, the WM received a phone call from one of the members of his investigation committee on MWB Allen LeRoy Robinson's petition for dual membership in our Lodge. The WM reported after the call, "I now have a majority and favorable report. We can, therefore, ballot on the petition of dual membership from MWB Allen Robinson." The Brethren proceeded to cast favorable ballots electing MWB Allen Robinson as a dual member of our Lodge.

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: Nothing to report.

CORRESPONDENCE: MWB Yamaya, who was present at this meeting. requested that the Secretary not read the lengthy correspondence from the GM regarding The Landmark describing the Grand Lodge of Japan as a Secret Society. Rather, the GM requested that MWB Ditto, also present at this meeting, jest the document, which the Grand Secretary proceeded to do. Next the Secretary read the GLOJ Monthly Bulletin dated 20 October 1995.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB Welsh read Article II, Sections 1 & 2 of the Lodge By-Laws and Articles 100, 100a, and 100b of the Constitution. In addition, the WM read a letter he was sending to WB Warren O. Shimeal, Chairman of the Review Committee TMA, Tokyo, concerning membership and voting in TMA.

NEW BUSINESS: At the sound of the gavel in the East, the lodge was lowered to the first degree for the purpose of conferring this degree on Messrs. Tyrone L. Hayden and Rodolfo C. Herrera who were elected to receive the degrees of Masonry in this lodge at previous Stated Meetings. They were conducted by WB Watanabe and obligated by WM Welsh in the East, WB Katagiri in the West and Bro. Masaki in the South. DGM Patterson presented the Lambskin Aprons: WB Katagiri the Working Tools and Bro. Warnell the Lecture. GM Yamaya delivered the Charge. The WM then called the Lodge free from restraint to congratulate the newly initiated Brethren. Bros. Hayden and Herrera were then conducted from the Lodge for the purpose of restoring themselves to their personal comfort and to raise the lodge to the 3rd degree for the purpose of closing.

At the sound of the gavel in the East the Lodge was raised to the Third Degree to close the Lodge. MWB Yamaya. Grand Master of the MWGL of Japan, addressed the lodge and spoke on the high regard he places on Far East Lodge No. 1.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 17:40 hours with Bro. Warnell (Acting) WM in the east, WB Katagiri, PM, SW in the West and Bro. Masaki, JW in the South. There were 19 Brethren present.
