The 460th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple. No. 250 Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 10th of October 1998.
A Lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1400 hours with WB T. Masaki, WM, in the East, WB S. Katagiri, PM, Acting SW, in the West, and WB Miyoshi, JGL, Acting JW, in the South.
At 1410 hours, MWB William M. Heath, GM of MWGLOJ, officially visited the Lodge with RWB Inae, JGW. MWB Ohnishi, PGM, Acting Marshal, conducted MWB Heath, RWB Inae and MWB Robinson, PGM to the East.
The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of this date. He announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of October 1998, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings. The Acting Secretary WB Katagiri read the minutes and they were approved as read.
Next was the Treasurer's Report given by WB Katagiri. It was moved by WB Katagiri and seconded by WB H. Welsh that the Treasurer's Report be approved as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees;
CHARITY: Negative
SICK & VISITATION: WB Hodges took his wife to the US for further medical treatment. The result unknown.
REFRESHMENT & ENTERTAINMENT: Due to flooding damage occurred in the later part of July, all perishable supplies stocked in the Lodge had to be disposed. New supplies acquired presently.
FRIENDLY TIPS: Negative.
COACHING: Negative.
MASONIC EDUCATION/LODGE HISTORY: Negative.
AUDIT: Negative.
INVESTMENT: The investigation for the Lodge investment to the "Eagle Star" is pending for the return of the Secretary from his US trip.
BALLOTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITION: A petition was received from Mr. Shigetsugu.
CORRESPONDENCE: Edicts No. 13 and 14 were read and the Grand Lodge Bulletin for the month of August and September were also read.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Schedule for the Third Degree Conferral was discussed without conclusion.
NEW BUSINESS: Article 2 of By-Laws and Article 100, 100a and 100b were read.
The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, and asked the Grand Master to close the Lodge in short form which was approved and done at 1540 hours.
There were 12 Brethren present, of whom 2 were visitors.
