Minutes 12 December 1998

The 462nd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No.1, F.& A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No.250 Yamate-cho Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 12th of December 1998.

A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1400 hours with WB T. Masaki, WM, in the East, RWB K. Watanabe, Acting SW, in the West, and Bro. Rodolfo C. Herrera, JW in the South.

The WM recognized the Distingushed Brethren as listed in the Tiler's Register of thus date. He announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of December 1998, the first order of büsiness would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting. The Acting Secretary WB Katagiri read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Treasurer's report and the Secretary's bills were reported by the Treasurer and the Acting Secretary respectively, which were approved by the Lodge in the usual Masonic manner.

The Lodge was temporarily lowered to the First degree for the 1ürpoe of conducting the 1st Degree examination for Bro. Shigetsugu, EA. The examination was concluded and approved satisfactorily.

The Lodge was raised to the Third Degree again, after the EAs retired the Lodge and the Stated Meeting resumed.

With the exception of the following, all committee reports were negative:

CHARITY: It was moved that the Lodge donates $200 to Yokohama Boy Scout Association for their charity activities. MOTION CARRIED.

SICK & VISITATION: Some informations were reported as to the status of WB Thomas Hodges in the United States.

INVESTMENT: The revisions of the By-Laws proposed in the previous Stated Meeting was disapproved by the Lodge.

CORRESPONDENCE: The monthly Bulletin for the month of November 1998 was read by the Acting Secretary.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Article II, Sections 1 and 2 of By-Laws and Articles 100, 100a and 100b of the Constitutions were read.

NEW BUSINESS: As the result of the election regularly conducted, the following officers were elected and appointed for the ensuing year of 1999.

The invitation letter for the Installation scheduled on 9th January, 1999, will be sent as soon as possible.

The Acting Secretary reported that, despite diligent searches made in the Lodge files as well as in the computor records, the addresses and pay records of the overseas Brethren could not be found. Consequently, the following actions required cannot be made in time:

  1. To remind the Brethren concerned to pay 1999 Dues.
  2. To drop the Brethren who have not paid the Dues more than two years from the roll of the Lodge.
  3. To send Life Membership cards to those qualified.

Worshipful Master stated his appreciation to Bro. Walter M. Johnson for his excellent services displayed for the Lodge throughout the year. A pin was presented to him as a token of appreciation.

The Lodge was closed in short form at 1640 hours with peace and harmony prevailing.
