Minutes 10 January 2001

The 484th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 10th day of January 2001.

A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1415 hours with WB Herrera, WM, in the East, MWB Heath, PGM, SW, in the West, and WB Sugai, PM, Acting JW in the South.

The WM recognized the Distinguished Brethren present and first time visitors as listed in the Tyler’s Register of this date. After requesting Bro. Riikonen to present himself west of the altar, WB Herrera presented him with his first time visitor’s card and bid him welcome. Bro. Riikonen responded with appropriate remarks.

WB Herrera then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month ofJanuary 2001, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last stated meeting and all subsequent special meetings. The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Due to the absence of VWB Katagiri, the Treasurer’s report was deferred until next month.

The Secretary then read the bills for the period. He moved and MWB Heath seconded a motion that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees:

With the exception of the following, all Committee reports were negative:

SICK AND VISITATION: WB Hodges reported on the status of VWB Katagiri, MWB Robinson and WB Fullerton’s wife.

COACHING: WB Hodges reported on the status of Bro. Santos and Marigundon. After considerable discussion, it was recommended by MWB Heath, and agreed to by the Brethren present, that the exact status of Bro. Santos be determined if possible and when ready, if the timing is right, arrange for Yokosuka #20 to listen to his proficiency so that he does not have to wait an excessive amount of time just to give his proficiency once he has learned it. MWB Heath and WB Hodges to coordinate this action.

BALLOTING: None.

RECEPTION OF PETITION: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the G/L Bulletin of 20 December 2000; an email from MWB Robinson and mentioned that he had received an email from WB Lindstrom via MWB Watanabe.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: WB Herrera reported on the status of the Installation Banquet, indicating that it will be held at the Negishi All Hands Club. Other details have not been worked out but that as soon as they are they will be provided to Bro. Hodges who will then send out the letters of invitation to all concerned.

NEW BUSINESS: Bro. Kubota, PM, brought greetings from the RWM, Officers and Brethren of Lodge Star in the East No. 640, S.C.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MMs, we would proceed to close in due and ancient form. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed at 1558 hours with WB Herrera, WM, in the East, MWB Heath, PGM, SW, in the West, and WB Sugai, PM, Acting JW, in the South. There were 12 Brethren present of whom 4 were visitors.
