The 485th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 10th day of February 2001.
A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1416 hours with WB Herrera, WM, in the East, MWB Heath, PGM, SW, in the West, and WB Masaki, PM, Organist, Acting JW in the South.
At the sound of an alarm at the door, MWB Kazuhiro Watanabe, Grand Master of Masons in Japan, accompanied by RWB Inai, Deputy Grand Master and VWB Katagiri, Grand Lecturer, were received with Grand Honors and seated in the East.
WB Herrera then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of February 2001 as well as our Installation meeting, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last stated meeting and all subsequent special meetings. The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
VWB Katagiri requested that the Treasurers’ report be deferred to our March meeting
The Secretary then read the bills for the period. He moved and MWB Heath seconded a motion that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees. All committee reports were negative with the exception of:
COACHING: MWB Heath reported on the status of Bro Santos.
BALLOTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITION: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the G/L Bulletin of 20 January 2001; an email from MWB Watanabe concerning the Grand Lodge Quarterly General Session and advised the Brethren that MWB Watanabe has been elected a Supervisor of TMA.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: WB Herrera then announced that this lodge had convened for the purpose of Installing the Officers, elected and appointed, for the ensuing Masonic Year. After the names of the Officers to be installed were read by the Secretary and the lodge called free from restraint, the following named Brethren were installed in the position indicated in open and public form by MWB Chester L. Ditto, PGM, Grand Secretary, MWGLOJ, assisted by WB Thomas H. Hodges, PM, who acted as Installing Marshal:
Upon conclusion of the installation ceremony, MWB Heath gave his acceptance speech. Fraternal greetings and best wishes were received from the several lodge represented . MWB Heath then requested MWB Watanabe to close the lodge in public form. MWB Watanabe closed the lodge at 1640 hours with MWB Heath, PGM, in the East, WB Herrera, PM, SW, in the West, and VWB Katagiri, PM, JW, in the South.
There were 19 Brethren and guests present.
