The 488th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 09th day of June 2001.
A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1410 hours with MWB Heath, PGM, WM, in the East, WB Herrera, PM, SW, in the West, and WB Sugai, PM, Acting JW in the South.
MWB Heath recognized the other Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tyler’s register of this date. He then announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of June 2001, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last stated meeting and all subsequent special meetings. The Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.
The Treasurer’s report for April was given by MWB Watanabe, PGM, after which he moved and WB Hodges, PM, seconded a motion that the Treasurer’s report be accepted as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period. He moved and WB Herrera seconded a motion that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees:
With the exception of the following, all committee reports were negative.
Bro Mendoza asked if anyone has heard anything concerning the current condition of MWB Robinson, PGM. WB Welsh and MWB Heath provided an updated status of MWB Robbie’s condition. Bro Mendoza suggested the lodge send a card. MWB Heath requested Bro Mendoza to purchase a suitable card and bring it to lodge for the Brethren to sign. MWB Heath then spoke briefly on the condition of his father and Bro Johnson reported on the condition of Bro Reinbold, a member of Lodge Star in the East No. 640, S.C.
BALLOTING: None.
RECEPTION OF PETITION: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read the G/L Bulletins of 20 April & May 2001, and informed the Brethren that copies of a Statement written by Bro Leslie H. Clarter, Lodge Star in the East 640, concerning the court case against Bro. Gustav R. Swanson was available to anyone desiring.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: MWB Heath then read each proposed change to the lodge By-Laws and called for a vote on each individual change. All of the proposed changes to the lodge By-Laws, as per the attached, were individually and unanimously approved by the members present.
MWB Heath then advised that he has been advised by Bro. Hodges that Lodge Star in the East No. 640 has been authorized to co-host a Table Lodge with Far East No. 1. After some discussion concerning the background of the proposed Table Lodge, MWB Heath requested WB Herrera and Bro. Miyata to work with Bro Alan Turney and Jud Buda from 640 to arrange for the Table Lodge to be held here in this lodge room sometime in October or November of this year.
NEW BUSINESS: WB Hodges moved and WB Welsh seconded a motion that the lodge change from a monthly paid Internet Service plan to an Annual Internet Service plan with GOL at a cost of ¥22,000 plus 5% tax plus one time bank service fee of Y650. MOTION CARRIED. WB Hodges indicated that he would try to make the switch over effective on 01 July 2001.
Apologies were received from MWB Onishi, Bro Turney and Bro Buda.
There being no further business to come before this lodge of MMs, MWB Heath, PGM, WM, closed the lodge in due and ancient form at 15:41 hours with WB Herrera, PM, SW, in the West and WB Sugai, PM, Acting JW, in the South. There were 10 members present.
