The 497th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple, No. 250 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, on the 06th day of April 2002.
A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 1410 hours with MWB Heath, PGM, WM, in the East, RWB Katagiri, SGW, Acting SW, in the West, and WB Sugai, PM, JW in the South.
MWB Heath then recognized the Distinguished Brethren present as listed in the Tyler’s register of this date. He announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of April 2002, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last stated meeting and all subsequent special meetings. The Secretary, acting, read the minutes and they were approved as read after a correction was made.
The Treasurer’s report was given by MWB Watanabe, PGM, after which he moved and WB Sugai seconded a motion that the Treasurer’s report be accepted as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary, acting, reported that there were no bills for the month.
Next was the report of the several committees: All committee reports were negative with the exception of the following:
COACHING: MWB Watanabe reported that the examination material for Brother Yokozawa, EA, is ready.
RECEPTION OF PETITION: None.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Grand Master’s letters, encouraging aggressive participations of the Blue Lodges to the quarterly meetings and also to the Children Festivel scheduled on 19 May 2002, were read, together with the monthly bulleting of the Grand Lodge.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: MWB Heath informed that WB Hodges, Regular Secretary, is expected to be back to Japan shortly. He reported the outline of the discussions and conclusions for the revisions of the Constitutions and other regulations proposed at the Annual Communnication held in March 2002. He also stated that Bro Marigundon, EA, has been transferred to the Sasebo Navy Base. As he is expected to stay there for some time, MWB Heath directed that an effective measure be taken to ask courtesy works for him to Nippon Lodge No. 9.
A donation of ¥30,000 was suggested for the Children Festival to be conducted in May. A motion was made by RWB Katagiri and seconded by MWB Watanabe for this. MOTION CARRIED.
MWB Heath directed that a follow-up action shall be taken to request the Grand Lodge a written approval for the revisions of the By-Laws of Far East Lodge No. 1.
MWB Heath announced that the Stated Meeting in May shall be held on the 2nd Saturday, instead of the 1st, due to the Festive Season in early May.
After confirming that there was no further business in the West, South, Secretary’s table and on the floor, MWB Heath closed the lodge in due form at 1455 hours, with RWB Katagiri, SW (acting) in the West and WB Sugai, PM, JW in the South. There were 6 members present at the meeting.
