Minutes 6 November 2004

The 522nd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. &A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple located at 77-12 Honmoku Midorigaoka, Naka-ku, Yokohama on the 6th day of November 2004.

A lodge of MM's was opened in due and ancient form at 1410 hours with WB Herrera, PM, WM in the East, MWB Katagiri, GM, SW in the West, and Bro Mendoza, JW, in the South.

At the beginning, Bro Secretary asked to GM for special dispensation to open and conduct business less than 7 members present and received verbal affirmative answer.

The WM then recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tyler’s register of this date, and then he announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of November 2004, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings. The Acting Secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read.

The Treasurer then gave his report after which he moved and it was seconded that the report be accepted as read, subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.

The Acting Secretary then read the bills for the period after which he moved and it was seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.

Next was the report of the several committees: All committee reports were negative with the exception of the following:

CHARITY: Annual affair of this Lodge, donation of Turkey, Pizza pies, Soda and candy to orphanage Christmas party sponsored by Yokohama International Women’s Club will be taken joint action with Lodge of Star in the East #640, SC, in this year also. Procurement officer will be WB Herrera and deliver them in the morning hours on the same day of our December meeting.

INVESTMENT: WB Herrera reported that he had made a contact with WB Sugai. Then Lawyer asks us to send those photocopy of certificate of investment between the Lodge and Eagle Star for his study.

BALLOTTING: None

RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.

CORRESPONDENCE: The acting secretary read the G/L Bulletins of 20 October. Also he shows the Minutes of the October Executive Committee meeting to the brethren and said that those who have interested please approach to the secretary desk to read.

As introduced last month, on about TMA’s Trustees and Supervisor, discussed the matter on the floor and finally MWB Katagiri volunteered to nominate to the position of Trustees.

NEW BUSINESS: Worshipful Master read Article 2 of By-Laws. Acting Bro Secretary spoke that up coming Lodge of Sorrow for MWB William M. Heath, PGM and RWB Murray V. Harlan, Jr., PSGW on 27 November at Blue Lodge Hall of Tokyo Masonic Center and ask for brethren to attend.

Acting Bro Secretary reminded to brethren present that the next Stated Meeting of this Lodge scheduled on 4 December 2004 will be our election for officers of 2005. And ask to MWB James L. Johnston be an Installing Officer through MWB Katagiri and the date will be 11 December 2004. Received affirmative answer from MWB Jim. Then about the place of Installation Banquet has been discussed and concluded that restaurant named “Tiffin”, Indian cuisine located Yamashita Park area. The restaurant is coincidentally located very close the spot of our very first Masonic Lodge in Yokohama founded in 1869.

The WM then announced that there being no further business to come before this Lodge of MM’s we would proceed to close. Peace and harmony prevailing, this lodge was closed in short form at 1600 hours with WB Herrera, PM, WM in the East, MWB Katagiri, GM, SW in the West, and Bro Mendoza, JW in the South.

There were 6 members present.
