The 552nd Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple located at 77-12 Honmoku Midorigaoka, Naka-ku, Yokohama on the 12th day of January 2008.
A lodge of MMs was opened in due and ancient form at 13:15 hours with WB Masaki, PM, WM in the East, WB Buda, PM, SW in the West, and MWB Watanabe, PGM, acting JW in the South.
Then WB Masaki recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tyler’s register of this date.
And he announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of January 2008, the first order of business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meetings. The Secretary read the minutes of our Monthly Meeting held on 01st December and they were APPROVED AS READ.
The Treasurer's report for the month of December was read by MWB Watanabe at the request of the Treasurer due to his delay in arriving at the meeting, after which he moved and it was seconded that the report be accepted as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period after which he moved and it was seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees: All committee reports were negative with the exception of the following:
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None
BALLOTTING: None
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary announced that the G/L Bulletins of 20 December and Minutes of GLECM of 20 October had been tacked on the Bulletin Board in the Conference Room. He then read Edict Twenty-Two from the GM and a Thanking letter from YIWC. Also he introduced a Half-Year Statement from Eagle Bond and said it stood at about ¥8.9 mil as of Oct. 07.
CHARITY: An amount of ¥4,700 was collected from the Brethren present.
COMING SCHEDULE: The Secretary announced the following tentative schedule.

NEW BUSINESS:
Proficiency Test: After the Lodge had been lowered to the First Degree, a Proficiency test was conducted upon Bro. TAMADO, Yasushi by WB Masaki at 14:10 hours. The WM of this Lodge declared him proficient in the First Degree.
INSTALLATION of OFFICERS:
WM Masaki declared the Lodge free from restraint after resuming labor in the Third Degree again for the purpose of preparing for the Installation Ceremony of both elected and appointed Officers for the ensuing Masonic year at 14:20 hours.
The Installation Ceremony started at 15:00 hours in public form with the Grand Honors to receive MWB Jodie J. Poole, GM of MWGLoJ and VWB Donald K. Smith, SGL.
The Ceremony was conducted by MWB James L. Johnston, PGM as Installing Officer and MWB Kazuhiro Watanabe, PGM as Installing Marshal.
All elected and appointed officers were installed in their respective offices except Bro Larry Jackson, Chaplain-elect and Bro Masanori Sagara, SD-elect, due to their business trips to the US.
CLOSING: At 16:30 hours, the newly installed WM made his appropriate remarks, and he passed his gavel to MWB Poole and asked that he close the Lodge. MWB Poole closed the lodge in short form at 16:45 hours.
BANQUET: After the Installation, the Brethren and their guests walked over to the Yokohama Country and Athletic Club to enjoy a few refreshing drinks before the beginning of the Banquet at 17.30 hours. Total participants were 25 and they all enjoyed wine, cuisine as well as atmosphere. They departed at around 20:30 hours.
The Secretary reported that regrets had been received from Bros Tsuruyiannis, Tei, Ogawa and Jackson.
